Whale pressure switch ticking when water turned off

Does anyone know why this whale pressure switch has started to tick for a couple of seconds every time we turn a tap off?
It happens on battery and hook up.
I assume I have to turn the knob on top but which-way? clockwise or anticlockwise and by how much?
I would also like to know what it does. I assume it regulates the water pressure but how does it do it?

There's a rubber diaphragm on the outflow pipe. As the pressure in the pipe increases, the diaphragm inflates. A bit of plastic on the diaphragm pushes against a microswitch, and at some point it cuts off the power to the pump. The screw adjusts the point at which the diaphragm trips the microswitch.

Note where it's set now then turn it each way and see if it helps. You can't do it any harm.

Thanks both I’ve twiddled the knob and sorted the problem. I think the knob got turned getting stuff out of the locker, a washing up bowl has been put over the pressure switch and drain valve to protect them both
