MH is Elddis Majestic 125. Question is does the Whale warm air system have a theromstat. It works fine on electric or gas and when you select the temp on the panel it fires up, warms the van nicely until you hear the fan start to wind down once the MH is warm then it goes off.

Problem is that when the MH starts to cool down it never seems to come back on unless I manually select the next higher temp on the panel which just starts the same cycle again. Anyone know if there is an actual space temperature sensor and where it might be as it’s not mentioned in the manual.

I've got an Accordo 120 with the Whale system. It appears to work okay in that it switches the heating on and off as necessary. I wouldn't say it was particularly sensitive. I put a thermometer at approx the same level as the control panel to get a better idea of the room temperature, thinking that the sensor would be in the selector switch ( maybe).

Yes I think my sensor is in the selector switch. If it's sensing wall temperature the differential (difference between off and on temp) maybe quite big, but mine seems to work.

Thanks Richard n Ann and Dramfineday for your replies. Ended up leaving it at one setting last night and eventually, and it was a good while, it kicked back in again. By this time it was pretty cold in the MH so I guess either the sensor temperature differential is very wide or that the sensor is indeed in the panel, which being at head height, is sensing that it is still quite warm.

Maybe they should have fitted a remote temp sensor at the level around sitting height But away from the heating outlets.

As with Richard, as far as I'm aware the thermostat is in the housing for the controls. We found the difference between switching off at the temperature set and then restarting the heat was maybe as much as 6 or 7 degrees and along with it being very noisy and having poor heat output, I fitted a Chinese diesel heater and we have not used the Whale blown air heating since.

Our Whale heating controls are in the main part of the hab area and about mid-point in height.

I think you are correct and yes I would think that the differential is at least 7 deg and certainly enough for a real drop in the internal space temp to the point you feel cold. Ours is not too noisy really and heat output is good given the MH is only 6mtrs long, but it seems quite pointless getting it up to a comfortable temp for it to go cold before the system restarts. I would have expected the differential to be 2 or 3 degs similar to your heating at home. Our panel is about eye level next to hab door.

Maybe an alternative heat source is the next “upgrade”
