A Good Walk Weston-super-Mare Walk

Forgot to say, if you take the slightly longer flatter route along the edge of the woods by the toll road, there's a good opportunity for action photographers as there are BMX riders in the woods doing the jumps right by the path.

My parents met at dance in the Winter Gardens Pavilion a long time ago when my dad was in the RAF and mum was training to be a nurse. They spent their courting days exploring the town and surrounding area. Lots of fond memories.

Hi buntyb,
What was your Mums name and when did she training, I was training in 1974/75 :giggle: our paths may well have crossed!

Yes quite a few years, I don't recognise her at all 😊

I have taken this scenic route by open top bus (pre-pandemic). It was a regular pay on board bus service ( bus pass accepted) - certainly handy if your legs get tired!
I took the bus from Weston-super-Mare centre (near the Marmite bread shop - love it or hate but it is Marmite flavour !) to the terminus car-park at Sand Bay (with toilets and tea shop but precious little else) to walk along the beach path then climb NT Sand Point (entry was free) - fairly steep climb to get up there but wide, firm path with resting places with lovely views. Well worth the climb and reasonably level grassy area once on the hill top with fabulous views out to sea and Steep Holm island.
ps. Bus ticket included voucher for tea room as I recall
pps, Sit offside on open top bus to avoid being whacked by low branches !
