West Wales

The point is that the landowners permission has to be sought before one parks on private land / sets up camp, not during , not after - in many cases permission isn't sought because these freeloaders just don't care.

The consequences of their disrespectful & offensive actions then become a major issue for the few that do abide by the laws governing proper wild camping

No doubt there are many instances of wild / free / freeloaders trespassing on other people's land without any issues, that doesn't make it right or even legal.

Check out bbc news today and book into a campsite:confused:

We tried 4 campsites around Harlech for beach access. Ended up paying £45 for one night. Good site though I nearly choked !
Stopping at sisters now in Llandudno Junction so we can tour north Wales for couple of days.

Well I ended up spending four days in West Wales. Two nights were spent at Whitesands, where there are campsites close to the beach and I had no problem getting a space. Was only charged £20 for the first night the guy turned up at 8 in the morning to collect. Second day he hadn't called bt 3 pm and we were ready to move on, so did. There was no adherence to social distancing -they were making hay whilst the sun shone and shine it did - we were very lucky with the weather. Third day moved up the road not far away to St. Davids, and overnight camped in a car park designated for motorhomes. It was located next to the main car park. No-one came to collect any money next day, I think we may of had to pay at the ticket machine in the main car park, we didn't and neither did the other motorhomers that had stopped there. There was no signage in this car park. Moved on then, up the coast to have a look around Fishguard and found a place to park opposite the Seaview hotel right on the beachfront. Its where all the national flags are situated. Dogs were permitted on the beach here. To find it drive through town with the sea on your left and as you approach a place called The Shack- you cant miss it. Opposite, The Shack is an ice-cream parlour that now sells beer on draught. All Covid regulations are adhered to here. The SeaView hotel is interesting although it is closed at the moment, its' car park is set aside for motorhome parking, but you have to ring ahead to the hotel and register that you are coming. We rang there was no answer. There were a couple of motorhomers there. The only facility is a water tap. The proprietor of the Shack will tell you that you can park there as long as you have a beer in The Shack. Beautiful walks all around this area, and great for wild life walks. Well thats my story and you might think I am part of the problem created by wild campers in West Wales but we never emptied any tanks, left no waste and were completely self contained.Where we could we used local services. The couple of pubs in Fishguard are very friendly and welcoming.
