We're on the road again and this adventure is aimed at the Basq and Galicia regions via France and possibly other places. No concrete plans. Anything I think of interest to members I will post on this thread. Mostly pictures.
So we crossed to Calais yesterday and today finds us at Sainte Maure De Touraine stopover.
Next to the parking is this. Built in 1050.its warm and my feet reek. Shoes tossed outside by Mena socks drying on wing mirror. It's a great life.

OK! Some info you may appreciate. Deisel at Alcampo, Irun is 1.34 and if you spend over 30 Euros in the superstore adk for the discount ticket that reduces it further to 1.29 a litre. Also, we came across this in the store for 1 Euro a bottle. Both red and white. Got some too. We're in Guernica, just arrived and had loads of fun finding suitable parking. Will head to Museum when it stops raining and boy has it been chucking it down.

Well, we may bump into you sometime/somewhere on your travels.

We'll be somewhere in Spain/France/Northern Spain/Portugal/Southern Spain any time from June to October.

A Tip! If your thinking about visiting this place ignore SFS as its parking place is a bit of a mare to get into and a bigger nightmare come school pick up. Much better to use the one further South in the town that can easily be seen on Google Earth. Much, uch bigger and several resident caravans.shed loads of room and nearby bar on South West corner. (Red awning outside).Guess where we are right now.

The sodding rain here is Biblical. The heaviest prolonged showers we have witnessed for sone time now. Its been going on for the last 4 days and sadly my very accurate weather app is forecasting anouther several days for the Basq region, particulary near the coast. Bugger!. Anyway, like others we will just get on with it. This morning we have arrived at Vitoria - Gasteiz. Plenty of room on the free Aire including services. We're going to swim down to the old historic quater and take some pictures and visit some museums perhaps. Might fall into a bar on the way back! Pictures later.

Bugger! Walked all the way down to the Cathedral to find it had closed 5 minutes before we arrived. So walked round for a bit then walked back. Looked at my super expensive all embracing galaxy sports watch and it said 11,000 steps, you dickhead! It must be listening to my wife as this term is used daily and always aimed at me.
So, only one thing left for it......find a bar. Job done.

Frias, the smallest city in Spain.
Even better, no rain and a blue sky. Six Euros for parking, payment made at tourist office, so a bit of a honesty payment I guess. Fantastic place to visit and a bit of a climb from the parking place.

A few days ago we saw about 20 Vultures feeding of a carcas in a field whilst driving, so no oppertunity to get a piccy. Twenty minutes ago around 20 or so Griffen Vultures started circling above our motorhome. (Mena was cooking some mince at the time oddly enough). Anyway, a couple of pictures. Striking birds and as Victor would say from Still Game. Big Bastards !

What a pity. Mummy probably sent you to bed before the ending as it was getting past your bedtime. May I suggest you watch the film again, it is a classic Western.

I know it is,one of the best westerns ever. Just saying the way he was running around in that clip.

The music that was played for this clip was the Escacy of gold by Ennio Morricone and the introduction is timmed perfectly with his entrance into the cemetary and in particular the time he took running about looking at headstones and I wonder if this all part of the script. I.e. you must run round looking at headstones for 80 seconds or whatever.

Castelo de Monterrei. A smashing stopover, very quiet and were going to stop for two nights. The Castle/Monastary is next to the stopover and parking agreed with the nearby tourists office. The castle has a neat bar and restaurant just inside the entrance and nice views.
All my pictures are too large to load up bar this one below and I cant be bothered to phaff about resizing them.

This morning we went back up to the castle complex and I took my Nikon EOS 60D camera in the hope my pictures would load up and revisited the church, went up the tower for the views and also revisited the bar for soft drinks on the way out.
We entered the complex from the other direction this time and saw a strange event of two people in traditional costumes handing out what appeared to be pastries to a group of bike riders. Music was being played from a large portable speaker and photographs were being taken. Anybody any idea what this could be. Obviously something to do with bikers ???
Anyway, here you go, a shed load of pictures. (and at last its getting hot !).
