Hi everyone, having just signed up to Motorhome Fun and exploring the various forms I never expected to find a motorcycling section. I look forward to reading and joining in the posts.

I am a very keen motorcyclist and love long distance touring, we have some fantastic roads up here and a great "biking" community, we manage to get a good ride out every week - despite the weather.

At the moment I have a Triumph 1200 Explorer and one of the new Africa Twins. Both great bikes.

Taken on the Transfagarasan highway.

A mate brought his 350 round a couple of years back, I quite fancy one.

I was looking at this one for sale as a s/h 4 owner machine they are asking £3999. A little too expensive i thought so did a bit more research and found a brand new one with the euro 4 engine, ABS and rear disc break. Paid £4752 OTR well happy, pick it up in March.

Welcome! A man after my own heart. Here’s my tourer A 1200XD in the Pyrenees & my nostalgia ride, a T100 at the 2017 Bury St Edmunds DGR.

Welcome!
And here's my Honda Crosstourer 1200X in Portugal a few years ago, overlooking the Douro Valley from Casal de Loivos, near Pinhao! Love touring in Europe, especially France and Portugal.

As the wife keeps pointing out, "You can only ride one at a time",!

Welcome by the way, plenty of avid (Rabid?) bikers on this forum,

Very popular bikes are on here .Would like to hear of any "older dudes" who still tour abroad as I still fancy doing it again now retired as wife don't want to any more, could pass on travel tips etc.

Ha that`s an easy one to get out of, I just have to walk to Chris`s wardrobe and point at the many boxes of shoes. ;)

As the thread starter I'll admit to being 72, I usually tour in a group of 4 but last year my pals were all busy. I decided to go it alone, the only plan I had was a ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam and a destination of the Transfargasan Pass in Romania. I had booked my first nights accommodation but each evening decided where to head for next. I visited 7 countries, did 3,800 miles and thoroughly enjoyed my own company. I met some great bikers on the route and had some brilliant evenings. Age should never be an issue - just do it ! Now where next ?

Fantastic a marvellous example to us all, there is a big world out there and the only obstacle in our way is our how narrow one`s vision is. :clap2:
