previous posts of mine I have been struggling with my trickle charge on hook up keeping my leisure battery topped up. Not near a solution yet but that is not really my question now. Just investigating further fuses, I also checked the main fuses near the steering wheel of my fiat Decato on the dash board. One was shot! Yay I instantly thought, changed this but then my electric step retracted, not thinking too much about it as when you put the ignition on this also happens, but then when you push the button to extract, it has a quick beep and nothing, push again a beep and nothing! No usual long beep and an exit of a full step...... Change back to the blown fuse and away we go with a long beep and I have my step. Does this make sense ? Only thing I can think of and Im no electrician is that the step has some how bypassed the fuse safety and adding a fuse conflicts somehow? But I know nowt lol....
I will one day post pictures of my wiring behind my drivers seat into the consumer box, I have no idea where to start with that either a serious mess.

I can only assume that putting a working fuse in, provides power to the hab electrics, which makes the system think you have started the engine, so retracts the step, or stops it coming out. I think this is normally controlled via a relay. Often the rely also controls if your fridge gets a 12v supply or no, as well step over ride.

Is fridge ok ?

One thing about fridge I will also have to mention is that it never seemed to work on 12v. I once, driving home from a weekend away, just switched over to 12v. Probably an hr into it A load disturbing vibrating noice came from behind. I instantly told the wife who jumped out seat and switched over to off and then all good again. Never ventured down that path since. Coincidence or not?

Try looking for a panel that may be at the bottom of the right hand side B pillar (behind the drivers seat) that can be removed to check for relays etc that may be at this location , and , if they are found there , could be checked along with the wiring by an auto electrician (This location is normally used, Fiat Ducato etc base 2006 onwards , as the connection point between the van and habitation electrics , but a Ci Motorhome may be different)
