Hi i had some advisories with the last mot, to get the following repaired for the next mot, end of chassis box section corroded around spring hangers, both are on the rear end left and right side fiat Ducato 2006 motorhome base. Apparently the box sections needs replacing and the total cost would be £1000 for both sides, including any other rust in the area and rust proofing etc.
Would that be a good price/average price for welding work?

It does sound to be a bit expensive, but it depends what's involved, can you ask them for a job breakdown ?
Easiest scenario would be folding some plate and just welding it in on top of the crusty bits, or it may need the axle dropping out of the way, sourcing new hanger brackets, removing all the rusty sections and lining everything up accurately ?
Your hands may be tied to the extent that not many garages would take on that kind of repair as it sounds a bit more involved than say replacing a wing or cill which a normal garage/body shop would usually do ?
Best of luck with it anyway.

Had several people say it would take 2 to 3 day, total replacement of box section x 2 including fabricating new one.
