Yes, thank you
Been looking at a Weinsberg 640 on a Merc chassis but cannot find many/any reviews anyone on here got any experience of the brand? They are a bit rare /thin on the ground. Come with a 10 year water ingress warranty and seem well specced for the money

You won’t see too many in the UK, but quite a few in mainland Europe mainly coachbuilts. As I’m sure you know Knaus is the parent company. I’ve got a Weinsberg 601MQ on a Fiat chassis. As you say they are high specced and good value, particularly the special editions. Mine is a 2018 PVC and generally it’s been good with any problems mostly confined to Dometic components. Build quality is as good as other mid range PVCs I’ve seen. 10 year water ingress warranty is potentially very useful.

We was quite impressed looking at them at Dusseldorf, and getting away from a Fiat chassis is a bonus and within our budget for a new one, there’s a few dealers selling them, I think smc had one in a few weeks ago👍

We have been very happy with our Caracompact Meg. It is the “Pepper “ edition with useful extras but is on a fiat chassis. Supplied by Premium Motorhomes at Bawtry who have been fine. At our recent service visit noticed they had several vehicles (Knaus and Weinsberg) on Merc chassis. Our Weinsberg came in at well under 3.5 but the Knaus equivalent model was substantially heavier.

We have the Knaus 650 MEG and very happy with it, I know it's different but they're probably built in the same factory

We have the model you are looking at, the Cara Compact 640 , Pepper edition on .the Merc chassis. Got it in February from SMC. We love it. It is well spec’d, build quality is good and solid, has a decent payload and a good sized garage. You can fit bikes etc in.
The drive is quiet, there are no rattles and bangs like we had in our previous vans, nice and smooth. The auto box is a delight and with the 170 engine there is more than enough power. We have had a couple of little snagging issues, fresh water drain tap and flyscreen blinds but SMC have been good at getting these sorted.
This is our third van, had an Autotrail, then an Autosleeper Kingham. This is far better than either of those. The layout works for us, the level of equipment works (we had solar, second leisure battery, LPG gas low system and external bbq fitted by the dealer). Above all the build quality and the rattle free drive make this one a keeper.

We were almost swayed by the Weinsberg 600 MEG and the Knaus 650 MEG Vansation as quality looked very good (excellent review by Peter Vaughan MMM on YouTube) - very surprised Knaus hasn't taken Alan Heath (Youtube) to task as he has consistently criticised Knaus saying he does not recommend - although I take what he says with a pinch of salt myself - I'd prefer his videos to be silent 😂 We are downsizing from A Class so decided to stick with the PVC we've ordered for ease of our planned touring otherwise we'd likely have ordered one of the above 😎
