Can I ask how reliable the weight limit is for the dropdown bed?
A friend wants to buy a Benemar but the bed has a limit of 150kg (21.4 stone), he is concerned that they are "on the threshold".
150kg seems rather low... our one is rated at 200kg.

I guess I'm asking if anyone has broken the bed due to exceeding weight limit!

Thanks everybody :)
I checked the bed manufacturers spec and its rated to an incredible 400kg!! when static in down position.
I dont think we need to worry about anything!
It’s not just the bed though it’s the securing fixings as well. I wouldn’t exceed the weight limit.

Our Benimar 286 has a limit of 230kg on the drop down bed.

Don't forget it's not only the people in the bed but the bedding etc also which should be accounted for so if they are already on the limit personally I'd say they need to look for something with a higher limit.

Our Burstner was 200kg limit. We slept full time for 2 1/2 years in ours with 20kg of dog as well and we were over that 200kg. But our bed when down did rest on the lounge seat bases so some weight was distributed across those and not all on the webbing straps and mountings. Ours never showed any signs of stress or strain. During a service I asked about the weight limit and was told they were tested to 400kg but how true that is I obviously cannot say

Ah, but is it like roof racks?

Do they have a rating for static loading, and then another for dynamic loading?

Asking for a friend, obviously
:whistle2:

I was just thinking the same! Also, if the load is distributed over a smaller area, for example, if you curled up, it would have pressure on different points than if you were laid flat out, which led me to think.........

.........do they test with the weight limit over two areas, for example, two people laid in bed asleep, or with all the weight in one area.....? :whistle2::whistle2:

Asking for CAB96 , obvs.

Assuming that Benimar have fitted it in accordance with the bed manufacturers guidelines. As above, it's not just about the bed itself, it's also about how it's fixed :)
