Absolute beginners.
Hi, I'm hoping someone has seen one of this type of tap before and can tell me how to carry on with the dis-assembly to get the cartridge out, [ please see photo]. I'm a bit stumped at the moment, and don't want to use brute force on it. The inner white plastic section turns, as a whole, but it looks like it needs to be turned independent of the outer chrome section to release the cartridge holdings tangs?

Mine is not the same as yours, but is of a similar ilk. On mine there is a TINY Torx 6 screw at the bottom of the piller at the back (you may need to use a mirror to see it. I removed that, which allowed the whole outer tap assembly to lift up, off the stem. There are two rubber seals which allows the water to enter the spout, and not seep through the seals to the top or bottom. These may need replacing, use silcone grease.

if the weep is through the tap spout, then this will be a seal in the mechanism, which may need a replacement tap, not sure if this is serviceable (as this wasnt my issue).

Exactly the same as my one. Remove the little plastic bar that the micro switch presses on. Turn the star thing anti clockwise to not damage the switch wires and the whole lot lifts out. All I did was remove the gasket and turn it over replace and refit it all. Gasket can be bought on ebay. If it is the cartridge make sure you get the correct type it is NOT a general UK replacement.

Thanks Clive, I'll have another look at that later. I've left a container under the tap overnight, and it's let by about an egg cup full of water, so not a massive amount and sounds like the gasket is at fault like yours was. I'm a bit reluctant about messing with it to much as we're away shortly for a few weeks in Europe, so a plastic bag over the end of the spout would work in the short term.
Does know if this tap style have it's own name, or a model number to help me source some spare seals and a "carrying " spare cartridge?
Regards.
Mike.

Update. So, had look at this again today. Tried " Clivefrogs" trick of flicking the rubber seals over, but no joy, in fact slightly worse.
I took the cartridge out again, and took every measurment I could, and started googling. My first hit was Screwfix, somewhat reservedly I took mine with me, and went to have a look at the listed one. What do know, spot on in every measurement, and only £4.50. I scampered off home for a nervous refit session. It's a little harder to get to push back in, presumably because the seals are new. Once fitted, and anxious wait for the water to re-pressurise the system, but BINGO, no leaks, and worked a treat.
So the cartridge is a 35mm one. 56mm high approx. You will need the clamping knurled locator nut off the old fitting.
Best to switch of 12v supply, and drain some water of using the shower wand laid down in a bucket, or the shower tray, this saves getting water all over the worktop.
20230417_174725.jpg This is the kitchen tap.20230417_174731.jpgTop removed by fully unscrewing the 3mm grub screw at the back of tap. 20230417_180655.jpg Then unscrew the cross head screw in the centre of the plastic cap, lift of carefully mind full of the micro switch, and wires. Gently prise the silver bezel off. Prise out the small plastic quadrant between the tap body and central cartridge.
Remove the tiny cross head screw that retains the cartridge locator 4 tanged ring. You can now turn [ carefully, again minding the wires ] the outer body, and the locator ring in opposite directions, either way, but the tangs need to be released from the locator lugs on the tap body. The cartridge should then lift clear. Take a photo of where it was, note the two round location pillars on the cartridge.20230418_104223.jpg The cartridge showing the rubber seals, this was not the problem on mine it was the ceramic plates inside the cartridge.
Reassemble, making sure to locate the two plastic pillars in the locator holes. The tricky bit is now getting the cartridge secured using the securing ring off your old cartridge, some pump pliers are probably the best tool, though I managed with some medium mole grips, and twisting the outer tap body by hand. Locate the four tangs under the tap bodies 4 lugs. drop the plastic quadrant back in to stop it moving about. Replace the tiny cross head screw to lock the cap ring in place. Carefully replace the chrome bezel, watching the switch wires at all times. Replace the plastic cap. The cross head screw was really tight on the new cartridge. I took plenty of time, winding in, then back out repeatedly using some easing oil, till it was comfortably going fully home. Then replace the lever part and secure with the grub screw, take your time here, it would be a PIA if it cross threaded at this stage. Switch on the power, and give it a whirl.

This is the 35mm cartridge I used as a replacement for our Sunlight 2019. It's from Screwfix. Probably worth having a one or two on board?20230419_075509.jpg
