Many years ago , I produced a website,
www.farm-direct.co.uk well at that time I couldn't get anyone interested and farmers just laughed and said internet would never catch on.
So eventually I gave it away to a bloke down south and he subsequently revamped it and I completely forgot about it.
Anyway I was talking to my grandson at the weekend, and just happened to say I once had a website and he didn't believe me so I looked for it and lo and behold it's still there but been dormant since 2006 .
If anyone is interested, have a look at it.
Now the question is, how do I find out who owns it now and does anyone think it would be worth trying to get it back and would it worthwhile to get it running again and does anyone even know how to.?
Any ideas welcome.

Strange if it's not been used since 2006 who is paying for the hosting?

You just can't resist old farming stuff! Stick to tractors. ;)
Yeah you are right mate, but at the time it was just impossible to get farmers interested but now this direct from farm stuff is all the go now and with a bit of perseverance it could have been good, but my wife was ill and I had given up active farming so just give up on it.

No one any ideas on this then, so shall I just forget about ?
I can't find out anymore about it. Mystery why he has kept it going yet not doing anything with it for getting on for twenty years.

Data Protection Act means you can't get any data about the owner from Nominet unless you have a court order. Site is hosted by FastHost who are a large crowd and won't engage with you. Basic POP3 email and lack of updates on the site would suggest it is forgotten about as suggested by tinkertaylor. No hope really of contacting the owners unless you can do it via social media by finding one of the names referenced on the About Us page and hoping they have some contact still with the owner.

Forget about it, buy a lottery ticket, there's more chance of making a few quid through that 😁
Yeah I'm going to let it go now as I didn't even know it was still up and no interest in making money out of it but seems a shame that it was way before it's time in internet and direct selling terms.
In fact when I started it ,it was more of just a list of people who you could buy stuff off, Derek added all the other stuff which wasn't really needed and complicated it a bit.

Sorry you didn't tag me correctly. So only just seen this.

I did a bit a googling/whois/nettools and found this page.

I am beginning to think Derek may not be around anymore as I have now found some of his other sites, all in the same sort of style and not been updated since a similar time, but that begs the question, why are they still running?

If there is a bank account with money in it then the direct debit will keep bring paid.

They are usually only £10-15 per year to keep the domain name registered, excluding any website costs.
