I'm at the point where I need to fit the door to the bathroom and I'm not entirely sure how, or even what options I have.
One thing first of all is I have a shower in there so the ambition is that the door will be shower proof. I say ambition here as the options I've seen so far doesn't inspire hope of that.

I have seen this kind of stuff

locker-door-profile-t-trim-silver-per-metre-4494-p.jpg

Is that best to use for the door? And for the "hole" just the standard lipped t-trim?

If so, what hinges can I use? And also, how much of a gap do I need? As in, how much smaller should the door be?

Are there any other options? I would prefer a flush fit if that is possible.

Personally I would not use ply as a shower door unless it was marine ply with a coat or two of sealant or a fibre glass or plastic covering of some kind.as for the gap we used to have a penny joint around doors in the trade but you probably need a little more to allow for movement of vehicle.?
I should say a penny joint was the thickness of an old penny £ s d?

I'm using Morland board for the walls and I very carefully cut the hole for the door so I have a match. I have Saniclad plastic on the inside of both the bathroom and the door.
I should mention as well the corners are rounded.

Apicture paints a thousand words, no idea what the materials are either.

2mm gap all around, try Blum kitchen hinges, you'll need 35mm hole part drilled for them, use 4.

I have tried all sorts of ways including a built in trough type thing .....they all leaked ....A simple shower curtain to cover doorway solved all the leak problems ;):giggle:

I wouldn't risk having just the door itself to keep the water etc in the shower area, it will dribble down and gradually work it's way into the door trim, not to mention the surround trim, so could prove to be a very costly mistake. Much better to use a good shower curtain across the doorway - one which is fully waterproof and has a weighted bottom and only just wide enough when open as that way the 'folds' will be kept to a minimum so it sits flat when in use.

Duly noted, I won’t be able to make the door waterproof.
here is an old photo from early in the build but you can see what Ihave to work with. Any suggestions on hinge types and trims to use?

The water might drain easier if you have the van on it's wheels rather than it's side ... :giggle:

I would simply use 3 or 4 x 60 mm Hurl hinges flush mounted on the face

Hi ,i fitted a tambour door in my self build ,the same as the one in the link below and i am very happy with it, i do use a shower curtain inside also.

Hope its of some use.
Good luck with the build.

Cheers Cris.?.

I like flush mounted but using that kind of hinge I don't know what trim to use for the edges. The trim is a couple mm thick and it's also a bit rounded so I don't think I can screw the hinges on top. And if I cut out a recess I think the trim will interfere.

I like the those tambour doors but I can't fit one in mine unfortunately. The layout inside is a bit funky so I don't have space to slide the door out of the way.

Are you using knock in t edgeing ? If you are you can easy cut any edges off with a Stanley type knife so hinge sits flush

But if I cut an edge off is the hinge thick enough so it doesn't bind?

Put a packer behind the hinge.

my doors were hung on minature versions of the normal kitchen cupboard doors on a full height door like that i would use four but you will need a return to fix them to , i think you are going to need a curtain as the door will never be watertight

It all depends on your edging ....some fit flush others stick over 1 mm while others are bigger ...some are flush one side while it has 1mm lip on the other side ....if 1mm its OK
