I fear I'm asking the impossible but here goes. Last year we ended up chasing rainbows as we were looking for waterside French emplacements which almost on every occasion were either far too crowded for us or the water levels were extremely low from lack of rainfall. Obviously a stark consequence of global warming. We have thought of the ultimate lake destination of north Italy but France/Spain still has an appeal if a destination can be found. So, suggestions please for a lakeside, not too busy preferably not family focussed with pool(s), but has restaurants on site or nearby, towards the south and say up to 30 euros. EHU not required. I said it was likely an impossible ask!
What's really bugging me is many moons ago we camped at a lakeside which was the training lake of Patrice Martin the then World/European water ski champion and for the life of me I can't recall where it was. I think it was somewhere between the Dordogne and the SW Coast but not on or close to the coast. It was perfect...........back then, but even if I could find it again I very much doubt it would still be able to tick my today's boxes a few decades on. If anyone can suggest my Shangri-la for this year it would be very much appreciated. If someone possibly knows the lake I'm referring to where Patrice Martin was training that would be a bonus.
Here's hoping.
