I’m a newbie.
Hi -
I’ve recently changed my water pump.
Old one had no life left.

I’ve used the new one for a couple of weeks.

Now, whenever the van is plugged into the mains or I put the dashboard power switch on, the water pump makes the pumping/vibrating/humming noise.

My old one did this when I first turned it on for a few seconds.

This one is now doing it constantly.

Any information and help appreciated.

Edited, I see from other posts it’s an in tank pumps
If it’s a leak, it might be at a joint where you installed it in to the system and could be sucking in air.
, Is it the same pressure as the old one? If higher pressure, you may have popped a joint
Any water coming out under the van? Could you have turned the boiler dump on by accidentally knocking it on install?
System might just need bled.. leave the taps open in the central position to push the air out thorough the taps.

Hi.
It’s this pump.
It’s the same as the old one.

When I bleed it, do I have to be really quick to turn it off when it’s empty so it doesn’t burn out beciase it’s on with no water?

I would keep topping the tank up so that doesn’t happen. Shouldn’t take too long. Sorry, I don’t have experience of that pump. Others will.

Thank you for your help.

It’s been running for several minutes now and still making the noise!

You need to bleed through all the taps hot and cold ...one at a time is fine...however that looks like a low pressure pump of the type that are controlled by micro switches in each tap,..not one I'm familiar with ..when you turn a tap on /off does the pump start/stop instantly when it's working normally or does it run for A few seconds after the tap is off?

Hi -
The pump is making that noise constantly, whether there’s a tap on or off.

Water comes out of the taps instantly when turned on and stops when off.

Everything seems fine, just the constant humming.

That is a submersible pump and is operated by a switch on each tap.

If the pump is running then you either have a tap/shower in the on position or, a wiring /switch fault which is shorting so continuously calling for water. This may have been the cause of death to your last tap.

How easy can you get to the wires under each tap?

I wouldn’t know where to start.
There’s the kitchen sink and the shower tap.
Any ideas where I begin?

Me, I would turn the power off so the pump stops, lift the arm on the tap and look for two little wires. If they aren’t obvious, post a picture of your tap here and do a search of the forum for “microswitch” or “tap microswitch” or similar.
If you can find them, you could disconnect them and see if the pumping stops. Would you be able to put in a switch that has the sole job of turning the pump on / off independently from the power panels?

Are you confident that the pump is the same / equivalent to the original and all wires connected to the right place?

If you look in the cupboard or any space under the tap you will hopefully see two pipes. One hot and one cold supply. Then you should also see two thin wires. And hopefully a connection of some sort. I’d start by undoing the connection, then power the water system up and see if the pump runs or not.
