- eight years in theory, a newby in practice!!!
Having just read jim s hints and tips about Hab checks it got me thinking. One of the things which helped sway the decision to buy the van we got in 2018 was the fact that they offered a 10 years water ingress warranty as standard, as long as we had it's annual habitation check done each year within 60 days of the anniversary of the purchase.
Fortunately we've had no issues with the van except that the 3 way fridge wouldn't stay lit on gas for more than 30 minutes from new. This was sorted without a problem and has been fine ever since.
Talking of water ingress, I was wondering if I discovered a crack in the sealant, assuming that they would replace the sealant free of charge if I took it to them. This involves a 3 - 4 hour round trip and the fuel costs which I? would need to pay. If I decided that it was only a small job which I could do myself, would it invalidate the water ingress warranty if my work wasn't as good as it might have been and the van ends up with a damp issue?
A hypothetical question.
When I next take the van for it's next hab check, would I be within my rights to insist that they replace any sealant which I'm not happy with the condition of? Anyone done this?
