Water in driver door foot well

Driving back home up the French autoroutes with AC on. All good but every time we stop and open drivers door a flash flood of water pours out the door. Quickly stops and only when AC running. Blocked vent somewhere?

I get also get a wet puddle on the passenger side when I use a/c ..

normally you would see a wet puddle on the road when you park, so I assume it's a leaking or broken condensation drain pipe

Condensation drain pipe needs re attaching up under dash - a right PIA I might add. If fitted correctly yes you get the puddle underneath and the annoying oh mate you have a leak!

I presume the detached pipe is accessed from under the bonnet?

Only ever done then on cars. the condensation drains off from within the cab, pipe takes through bulk head to drain outside. Most were just a fiddle with double jointed arm. One and let's hope it is not like yours required the dash removing that was a Toyota Estima!
As an aside the pong you can get when using A/C is bacteria growing in a pool of undrained condensation.
