Bessacarr E530
We have just bought a 2007 Bessacarr E530. When you are on hook up, do you leave the water heater on all the time or, just put it on when you need hot water ?

If it's very hot weather I would be tempted to put it off if I was out during the day as it would contribute to heating the van even more, otherwise just leave it on would be convenient.

On the very rare occasion we use electric, we just turn it on 20 minutes before using it.

Again if it's too hot you wouldn't want it on all day but when it's cooler you might as well leave it on as the bit of heat it loses will help keep the van warm.

They normally heat up quite quick so we tend to leave it off till we need it. I always imagine that leaving it on all the time might add to the build up of calcium, not sure whether thats true. But it's what we do.

We’ve have 240volt heat on our boiler and when on EHU we leave it on all the time, when off EHU and using gas we turn it on in the morning till we’ve done done all washing jobs, we leave washing up till the morning, and then turn it off.

We don’t heat water unless needed. It will warm the inside if you want that. If paying for EHU you might as well use it, but why, if you don’t need it? When on gas, we’re much more frugal ! 😄

Best only use when required, the elements in the Truma's have a reputation for failing and are a bit of a pig to replace. Also the boiler will need descaling more often if left on.
