Nearly reasy to buy!
Hello and Seasons Greetings to one and all.
I would like some help/advice please, concerning how I watch tv/apps.
I usually only watch for an hour or so once I am in bed, so support my iPad on a cupboard at the foot end of my bed, and use data from my phone or mobile router to screen iPlayer/netflix/ you tube etc.
I'd like a way of having a slightly bigger screen size.
I've looked at projectors but as this would need to be placed near my head I think the fan noise in such a small space would be too much.
I’ve seen a 12v/mains ‘smart’ tv with a 19” screen which I think would be ideal, but not sure how these work.
Does the ‘smart’ mean I can ‘cast’ from my iPad or iphone to the tv without a wired connection, or do I need something plugged into the tv to do this. And if so does this ‘something’ need its own power supply?

I have a decent inverter so could power when not on EHU, but is there such a thing as a rechargeable smart tv?
oh and just to add, do I need an external aerial to use this, even if only using via my iPad etc?..
Any help or different suggestions ( in fairly easy to understand terms please 🫣) would be much appreciated. Thankyou.

We use a firestick with our Avtex tv, the tv you have shown will have the Netflix app on it so you just need to connect to WiFi and sign in to Netflix. We use our phone as a personal hotspot and have unlimited data so not an issue.

We use fire stick on the Avtex tv and stream from phone. Also have a lightning adapter with hdmi input to save moving the fire stick to the other tv. Both work really well in the MH.
Both work on 12v too

View attachment 847631How do you use the lightning adapter, is that the white thing you’ve photo’d? Does it plug into an iPad? And then connect to back of tv?

So I don’t actually need a fire stick? I’m sorry I’m confused but several people have suggested using a firestick, so I’m not sure if what you have said means that with this tv I do or dont need one! (🫣)

Firestick into an hdmi port will give you Netflix etc and still take data from you phone.
So I do need a fire stick with this tv, can‘t just cast from my phone? Are there different fire sticks? Any recommendations please?

I use my iPhone with Netflix, sports, discovery etc as one method of streaming. Plug into the adapter and a hdmi cable to the tv.
Other option I use is a fire stick plugged directly in to TV.
Both work well if you have a phone signal 😎

Really depends on the TV you get. Most, these days, will already have options for iplayer, Netflix etc.

I find them a bit slow and buggy. I don't use anything but my firestick. It just works.

Oh ok, so I guess I could try with this new tv, and maybe have to get a firestick , are firesticks just one type/brand or are there many types?

The tv you've linked to is a 12 volt smart tv so you don’t need a firestick unless the firestick offers you a facility that the tv doesn't, just connect the tv over your network, it appears to come with most streaming apps installed so once connected to your network it will just be a question of signing into the apps and you'll be away. You won't need an external antenna although it appears to have a satellite tuner incorporated so you should be able to connect a dish to it if you wish.

Thankyou very much, that’s exactly what I needed to know!

If you going to use a firestick just get a decent 12v tv without the smart bit.
we have the 21” version and it works well not buggy at all

Can you tell me which 12v tv you have please, reviews are all so mixed, and is a ‘firestick‘ a brand or are there different types? Thankyou.

Amazon's own firestick is the most popular. Google do a more expensive version and there is another brand that is quite popular but I forget the name....

As an alternative:

Instead of upgrading my TV, I bought a 17" Chromebook
The screen is nearly as big and has much more flexibility & portability than just a TV, even a smart one.

Just a thought

Oh yes, that might be a very good idea, probably lighter in weight than a tv too!

I bought this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-17inch-Chromebook-CX1700CKA-Pentium/dp/B09K4GRJW8/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=chromebook+17+inch&qid=1703425943&sr=8-1-spons&ufe=app_do:amzn1.fos.16386313-b7bf-4b29-bfa1-0d3d5f3a0dd5&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1

eight months ago [for fifty quid more :xangry:]

I use it in the bedroom area, the living area and at home too.
I store catchup films & tv, just in case there's no signal.
It powers/charges off USB and mains
Of course it doubles up as a basic computer/laptop - I can edit photos a little easier than on a phone screen.

It weighs about 2.3kg which is no featherweight but is perfectly portable.

You may well be able to cast from your phone, I’m not knowledgeable to know for sure but the firestick could be an alternative

Good evening, I have a 24 inch smart tv (AKAI) bought from amazon £140,that connects to camp wifi or phone hot-spot.
It has Netflix etc built in and I have a firestck connected also. I have a amazon account so you get Amazon tv with your account and I have been watching premier league football last few days on that. I'm in Cumbria at minute on camp for holidays and it's been great watching all Christmas tv shows. The smart tv has freeview built in, I have ariel with booster on roof(built in) but many options to consider.
