I am a newbie
I am thinking of buying a secondhand Elddis Autoquest 185 is there anywhere I can buy a water ingress warranty?.

Can't help with purchasing a water ingress warranty. We bought our Elddis new in 2018 and it came with a 10 years water ingress warranty on the condition that we had an annual habitation and damp check each year. If we sold the van in under 6 years the warranty could be transferred to the new owner. Over 6 years the warranty ceases.
Check that the van you're looking at has got an up to date damp check certificate (history) and take it from there. Good luck (y)

The van I am looking at is a 2020 but the previous owner missed one habitation test so that would cancel the remaining warranty.

I doubt you can but one on a 2nd hand vehicle. They generally come with brand new vehicles but as you have found out they have to be tested annually. by the way - I don't know about Elddis but with Burster its a water ingress (damp test) that needs to be done annually not the habitation. Habitation can be separate to Water ingress and covers stuff like gas, electrics, fridge, cooker and so on.

That is only on German vans, Brit vans they rip you off for both even though the hab warranty is only 2 years.

It was probably due to Covid restrictions on travel. Our checks had to be done 60 days before or after the purchase anniversary each year (120 day window). Our dealers were brilliant and spoke to Erwin Hymer/ Elddis and got an extension for us and we have a written record of it.
For peace of mind I would get an approved mobile caravan/ motorhome repairer to do an independent damp check on it, even if previous checks were good ;)

I wouldn’t invest a warranty, especially a 3rd party warranty as this would be. It won’t prevent any ingress and really you need to have damp checks done to test for any, a professional will normally find the problem developing before it becomes a major one. You will have the challenge of claiming and even though you will have paid out a lot they will take an excess off any claim and may be awkward at paying out. Makes more sense to just put the money away. As the previous poster said - get it checked before you buy, don’t trust an existing certificate. A 5 year old Elddis we had was fine on first damp check we had done but we were advised to have another done in 6 months - the same specialist then found damp by a roof mounted window.
