Just driving through France & a flashing red oil can warning light has come on & with a message to "Change Oil".

The manual says this is "EXHAUSTED ENGINE OIL": It then states "if the warning light flashes, this does not mean the vehicle is defective but the oil needs to be changed as a result of regular vehicle use.

I have checked the oil level with the dipstick & its between the min/max level & looks clean. It shouldbe as I had it serviced last month.

The manual then states "If the oil is not changed the engine operation is limited to 3,000 rpm when a second threshold is reached & limited to 1,500 when a third threshold is reached. Which obviously will be a problem!

If in the UK I would take to my local garage but a bit more challenging for me in France.

Anyone had a similar experience & if so what was the solution?

Look at YouTube video how to change service light interval settings..if that's the issue....if followed correctly it's not difficult to do..normally a sequence of turning on certain lights, pressing brake or clutch...each vehicle is different..

If you can't reset it I wouldn't worry about the 3000 rpm limit on the 180 engine, I've only reached that a few times going downhill using engine braking.

Even the 1500 rpm limit wouldn't be catastrophic, from memory that's about 50-55 mph.

Thanks for the replies.

I've also seen a previous post with a similar problem which is also helpful. I will try & progress tomorrow.
