Since 2005! 2000+ nights so far...
Hi
We'll be in Spain in DECEMBER this year, and I will be leaving the wife for a long weekend near Villanueva Del Trabuco. Can anyone recommend anywhere safe to camp near this area? Best I can do so far is around 20m away.
Any recommendations most welcome.

PS - is there a decent campsite database for Spain anywhere? The websites I've found so far all look incomplete and aren't very good :(

Cheers

Thanks
I'd found most of them :( There does seem to be a lack of a single source - the UK is much better catered for.
Saw a notice on one of the sites "Free camping is not only forbidden in Spain, but in some places the risk of theft is high." :o

Try TORROX COSTA. It lies between Velez Malaga and Nerja. Come off the N340 or AP7 (whichever route you take for Torrox Costa) Head into Torrox Costa. You should then be on the N340. Turn of onto the service road for the Hotel RIU. Turn right and a few metres on your left is a massive gravel parking area. You have to climb the roadside curb to get into it. Drive the lenght of the gravel carpark and find a spot as close to the beach. Best spot is on the left side where the Hotel RIU canvas wall is. Here you will have everything you need. Water, slopping out and showers. All free. Slopping out:- Behind the shower block, you will find a drain. Lift the cast iron lid and empty out. Alongside, is a rubber hose to rinse and wash out your toilets. The beach and foot shower will be your water supply for your tank. Buy bottled water. 5L for drinking. Along the promenade, the first shop, will sell you English papers. Fresh bread, keep walking along the Prom: till you get to the beach Police office/Information, turn left, German bakery (best bread in town)
If you have a problem finding the service road to turn into where the RIU hotel is, then look for the SOL supermercado on the main road, then take any turning opposite and you cannot go wrong. Hope this helps.
