I watched an episode of Rip Off Britain (see link below) Yesterday and it showed the heart breaking story of Newish VW Campervans being attacked by Rats eating into the wiring looms and cables as they were parked up in various locations.
The revelation was that VW had started using Soya Based Plastic conduits and wiring to make the vehicles more re-cyclable. They as a manufacturer did not answer the many calls from owners asking why their vans had sustained so many expensive attacks from nibbling rodents when other vehicles nearby seemed unaffected.
I am sure like me, your heart will go out to the lady that ended up having to sell her van, having endured two expensive repairs to her lovely Campervan.
The programme shows how to best protect your vehicle from Rodent attacks, but it really is a PITA that VW, maybe others these days had NOT considered the increased risks before installing the new type of cabling.
PS: If the link doesn't work the episode is available on The BBC I Player, Rip Off Britain Ravenous Rats Destroyed my Car.
