I'm in the middle of upping the spec of my Bailey which currently has the standard Truma solar controller (one solar panel and one lead acid leisure battery). Also has the vanbitz battery master.

Now these Votronics seem to get a lot of positive press on this forum so thinking of buying one but not sure which to go for.
I'm thinking that if they are supposed to be up to 30% better at charging the LB then the base model (165) should be more than adequate?
Plus I'd likely go for a lithium battery to replace the SLA to increase available power rather than adding a solar panel which would be a last resort for me?

So as a first step I'm thinking of just changing the controller. Any thoughts or tips? Oh and anywhere know where to buy one, even better if there's a funster discount?

I have the smallest Votronic Mppt {I replaced pwm controller that came with the van with it). Very pleased with it so far. If you can get a cable from the vehicle battery to it, it will trickle charge the vehicle battery too. In fact it does that from ehu too as long as there is enough light on the panel to activate the circuitry.

I believe the higher power models have a fan, which might be important to some people depending on where it is going and how sensitive you are to noise. The 165 model does not have a fan.

Got mine from 12vplanet. No discounts though, but you do get points you can redeem for money off your next order if you make an account.

Cheers,

Robin

There have been some problems with the Votronic units with Lithium depending on which lithium settings you are using.
If changing to lithium you are probably better to go for a Victron.

Another vote for Victron. Really like the app and ability to change settings

I don't know anything about the victon, though have seen them mentioned several times too.
What's the 100/20 actually mean?

100 volts maximum input and 20 amps max charge current I believe.

so that should be fine with a normal 100 w truma solar panel I think.
Yes indeed, 75/10 or 75/15 would work but would limit future expansion, 100w will give 7-8 amps max.

Jev88 I've messaged you :)

No you haven't???? But it's not me selling - just wanted to draw your attention to the item for sale.
LOL, you're right, all sorted and bought it though so thanks for pointing it out.

Go for the 30amp Victron or higher amperage if you’re considering adding more solar panels.

I'm in the middle of my upgrade (had to stop due to health and other time related (xmas) jobs nedd to be done.

So far I've fitted a Victron smartsolar mppt 75/15 controller and a KS energy 120ah LiFePO4 battery, next will be a (cab) battery maintainer (more research needed) as I've lost the cab battery outlet I had on the Truma pwm.

Then it will be a votronic B2B and Victron BMV712.

Main parts are here just need to measure up the large leads and get a battery maintainer.

All to be fitted during the coldest time of the year HO HUM.

Battery master by Vanbitz for maintaining your cab battery 👍🏻👍🏻
