Voltronic or Van blitz battery master

I have the Voltronic, 230ah lithium keeps cab battery rock steady at 12.9v, no solar. No reason to think it’s any better or worse than vanbitz, regardless takes a lot of worry of the table when van in storage

Vanbitz battery master. Simple to fit (especially if you have an Elektroblok - and if you're unsure about anything they're really helpful) and it just, simply, works perfectly. No problems with them posting over to Spain for us either. Highly, highly, recommended.

We have a CBE CBS2 that does the same job. It just works. Fit and forget. Even at this time of year, a 100w solar panel keeps the hab battery topped up, and the van battery trickle charged too.

Had Votronic for about four years. Works perfectly.

They recalled because of fire risk

Another one worth a look is the Ablemail Battery Maintain, has a lot it's programmable for different battery types and you can set it to a higher charge rate.

They all work slightly differently so it depends exactly how you want to use it, do you have lithium batteries? will you have something charging the habitation batteries or not?

Votronic is fine if you have a charger on the habitation batteries, Van-Bitz one works from lithium even without a charge source.

I have solar panel charging hab batteries only and on board charger on a Chausson

Not sure where you heard that, I have no charger on the hab battery when in storage and the votronic works perfectly maintaining cab battery rock steady at 12.9 from lithium hab battery, would take many many months to deplete lithium battery

I did say it depends on your set up, I assume that you have the Votronic battery maintainer specific for Lithium as to the best of my knowledge the standard one needs over 13.6v on the habitation to send a charge to the starter battery, 13.6v would be higher than a standing lithium voltage.

Didn’t think you could use on a lithium battery looking at spec

Mine is gel

That’s certainly what Votronic say, I was thinking they did a lithium specific one but getting mixed up as that is CBE do a lithium version of their CSB-2, the Vanbitz one works with lithium as well.

Just read that so I stand corrected. Only thing I can say is that it was the one recomnended by ex Victron engineers when having a b to b and lithium fitted and more importantly it works. Brilliant bit of kit, maintains the cab battery at a steady 12.9. What it wouldn’t do of course is work lithium to lithium

That’s interesting, I did always wonder why they said not to use the Votronic one with Lithium, 12.9v is good but is it possibly too high? I don’t know. Do you have any other charge source on the habitation batteries.

Good point about the 12.9, I hadn’t really thought about whether it was good or bad jurist that it was steady and always charged up when left in storage. I do not have any solar as I do not really camp and move on regularly leaving the b to b to top up any usage. The van is mainly gas and the 230ah underseat lithium has never been stretched (to date).

The only reason that I asked about any charge source is that normally they say that the Votronic unit only works when there is solar or a mains charger connected to the habitation battery ro raise it's voltage, your lithium must be sitting high enough for the Votronic to think that it is on charge.

Thanks all for your contributions, helped me find the voltronic device.
