We did a few of these last year and people were interested so posting this one.
We are currently on the free Aire right next to the path at its highest point of 105 m.
The path is complete tarmac and off road though within 6kms of Bordeaux there are bits where you are next to it but kerbed away from road.
26 Kms to Bordeaux town centre and very shady which was helpful at 29c today.
Follows a brook or stream and meadows aplenty either side and impossible to get lost.
Once off the railway line about 9 Kms to Bordeaux it is less nice.
Water and 3 hours leccy available at Aire for a 3 euro jetons.
Creon appears to be a walled town and Aldi is 100 m away.
Photos below tomorrow to sauveterre (we think)

Great pics, we are often in the general area so this could be useful. Our grandson works at the le Roastbif and le frog, an English pub in the main drag in the city. Give him a shock, ask for Josh, if you're in town. There's a great France Passion, a vineyard, in Cadillac, if you go east down the Garonne.

We went in today unfortunately and heading east tomorrow. Otherwise I would have had some fun !!
Probably missing Cadillac this time but duly noted.
Cheers

2nd part from Creon today to sauveterre de Guyenne and 32 Kms. A bit more gradient up and down and less bars on the route but a few a km away or so.
Nice tunnel and more wheat and vineyards to view.
Managed a degustation recommended to us at La Sauve and ended up liking a 13 euro bottle and a 6 euro one as well.
Aire has filled up with 5 of us at 1730 hrs. Still space for chairs out.
With the detours it was 70 km round trip (or as we like to call it 3 beers and a wine)

How long is the tunnel, it looks very well lit?

300 metres and was well lit via PIR upon entry.
See graffiti thread for couple of interior photos with no flash

We are hoping to be near Bordeaux tomorrow on our way to Spain but unfortunately my driver is reluctant to cycle sans sunshine! I will try again in April on our way back as this looks good fun.

Unless specifically wanting to go into Bordeaux, our preference would be to head to near Sarlat and do the Voie Vert there. Unfortunately I didnt do a voie vert thread about it but I have tagged you in a link to the photo of the day thread. Park at Grolejac (free aire 400 yards from the Dordogne) and I think it was 11km into Sarlat and the voie vert goes the other way as well but the Sarlat bit was lovely, like cycling through a rain forest in parts and really quick into Sarlat for a beer and return of an evening (in the sun)
The Bordeaux one is excellent for Bordeaux but going the other way from where we stayed was good but not as good.

Enjoy your hols (you have remembered the bikes havent you ? (y) )

How did I miss these photos? We cycle camped Bordeaux to Port La Nouvelle with a 9yo and a 15yo. These photos bring back so many memories!

Looks like a pub crawl to me (y) (y)
