Viva door catch

My MH has a Viva door catch at the top of the hab door. The problem is the springs on the receiving end are so strong that it needs a great effort to get the catch to engage which is slightly distorting the door. Has anyone experienced this and have they found a solution? I am using a chair to keep the door from slamming shut but, obviously, this is not a long term solution. Any ideas gratefully received.

Give the mechanism on catch jaws a good dose of PTFE spray and then a smear of silicone grease on the small bar that the catch jaws lock onto.
