Virgin mobile

I changed from o2 to sky for a better deal and they all use the same network.its only the customer service that will change, o2 customer service was useless! O2 still owe me £3.80 but I've got to call a premium number to get it back

I switched same as you a couple of years ago. Then Sky Mobile decided to impose a £2 daily roaming charge so goodbye Sky, hello Tesco Mobile - also on the O2 network.

Was advised to switch to O2 by virgin when renewed tv package - more services same or less money as no need for separate phone package.
No problems with O2 just Virgin during swap over.

I think they are all a much of a muchness till you need to change tarrif etc. Had to jump through hoops, blood tests, finger prints with o2 just to get a look at a better deal. I hung up after about 10 min of talking to some idiot on the other end and switched to sky. Had a call off a lovely woman from o2 apologising for the previous call about 2 days later but it was too late.

Virgin swopped me over to O2 this month. I've not really noticed any difference in service and as part of the deal they doubled my data.
The home phone is a different matter, it now has to plug into the router so all the extensions we have no longer work.
Not too bad as I used the cordless phone with extra handset but we no longer have a phone upstairs now. I'll need to buy an additional set I think ?

We got rid of the home phone a couple of years ago, I was concerned we would miss it but technology moves on and we didn't use the landline. We now have broadband only from Toob and it's not a problem. I have put both mobiles on different networks in case one goes down.

We too got rid of our landlines a few years ago, fed up of all the scam calls plus most people called us on our mobiles.
Only problem has been recently where we've lost service due to network (Sky via O2) problems.

Recently signed up to Volt (already Virgin Media customer) and phone was Giffgaff.
Took two days longer than stated to transfer number and had to chase them (O2) to take off automatic locks (premium or 'adult' sites which includes some of my customers (hospital clinics!)). Also had to chase them for my free double data rate.
But got there in the end.

Customer contact will be more less same with chat bot then human based somewhere!

Cheers🍻

That was going to happen under Openreach's digital switchover. Despite the need for many older vulnerable people to have analog landlines that always work in an emergency even during a power cut. BT prioritising profits above lives. Utter cnuts.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I did read somewhere that the UK has only 2 separate 5G networks. The big UK mobile providers have agreements to share the same masts. If you have 2 mobiles on networks that share the same 5G mast, when the local mast goes down you still lose 5G on both phones unless you choose 2 providers that use separate 5G networks. Mast sharing is also common on 3G and 4G to save costs and allow more bandwidth for 5G. 3G is being phased out.

5G consumes several times more electricity than equivalent 3G and 4G. How is that beneficial for the environment?

You can usually turn off "safe search" in your settings with most providers. With sky I couldn't even get on gun trader, its not an over 18 site either 🤔

You can get an adaptor for your phone. I had an Engineer come and do mine as I had been having trouble.
