I have a quick question for those with Victron kit and Fogstar Drift(s).

I've checked the Low temperature cut-off settings on my Orion XS, MPPT & IP22 and they are all set at 5C. I've read that the Drift will only heat from charging currents so with it now sitting at 4C and with all charging now off, how the hell does it heat up????

I hope its as simple as reducing the cut off temp on the chargers but I'd be interested to know what you have yours set at please.

Thanks, Martin

Yes I think you are correct.
No mention in the Fogstar spec about what temperature the heater cuts in so worth contacting Fogstar to find out.
The spec says you can charge down to -20°. If you need to charge when the batteries are cold I would set the Victron gear to a couple of degrees below the cut in temperature.

Thanks Lenny. In the Fogstar Q&A it says

"Low Temperature cut-off: The Drift batteries have low temperature charging protection built into the battery. You can leave this off."

On the IP22, I've had to create a custom profile (based on Lithium) to enable it to be turned off.

I'll see how I get on!

I just copied over all the settings from the standard lithium profile into a custom profile, and ignored the low temperature cut off.

Note that if you have a shunt and you charge at a low enough temperature for the heaters to kick in, then your estimated charge level will be incorrect. I very much doubt that'll be an issue in normal use though.

Same. I've created a seperate profile for each of my devices somehow managing to 'lose all settings' for the solar! Just resetting now.
