Since 1992 - managed to break most things!
Hello everybody - Paul & Kay here.. new subscribers to Motorhome Fun (but we have been around the block a bit though!)
Question re. parking at the actual palace of Versailles;
Can you still turn up (early) and park at the coach parking area at Place D'arms at the front of the palace, as I believe was possible in the past?
Not too keen on leaving our van in nearby unattended parking/Aires as feel the area would be rife with 'wrong uns' due to the massive tourist attractions!
Camping also looks a bit of a pain as arrival/ departure times dictate you need two nights and transport...although we will have a motorbike with us then (Mid March)
Any advice welcome -thanks

4or 5 years since we went and don't think you can park with the coaches in front anymore.

I think it's the route de Paris about 1km the parking becomes free and the road is wide. Park behind another van. Obviously get there early. The other option is the Trianon where Marie Antoinette lived. There was shed loads of parking within the grounds and we saw motorhomes parked there. Reckon you could overnight but bit of a gamble.
Round the corner somewhere were some tennis courts with paying car park.

Nonancourt and train is another option
Just noted you have a motorbike. If it's over 100cc I would park outside and ride in. We cycled round Paris last year. It was great fun dodging the traffic. Motorbike would be easier for experienced rider

In 2020 we parked in a car park a few hundred yards away accessed from Rue de Carnot with no problems, 10 or so other mhs there and market trucks. You probably could stay the night but rsckon it would be noisy.

We stayed the night at Nonancourt.

Unless I have the wrong road 2023 pic on street view shows paths and stakes to stop anyone parking.
All changed Aug 22 according to street view.

Yes that street view is the main rd ,the parking is on Allee de Matelots which is right at the lights,Map shows a lot of changes since i was last there as i used to stop at the campsite PAJ when it was open, I had thought about parking on the street maybe for the day but now they have marked bays all down the road and plenty stopping there and the access to the park and a walk down to the palace is good from there recon i would give it a go.
