Hi everyone
Just asking if anyone has been to this area of France around the Verdon Gorge, and would recommend a campsite that you have stopped at.
thanks Jim

Specifically campsite or aire with facilities ?

Aires at Mourstiers, St Croix and les salles, all paying. All decent. Riez isnt worth it.

If i were going again I would get the France Passion book and stay at the lavender farm just north of st croix in a locked truffle orchard. You would need your own transport (bike ebike motorbike) but easily the best FP you could ever stay at.

There is a camp site at les salles which looked very busy but know nothing about it and theres another one on the eastern side of Bauduen where you can camp against the lake.

I've stayed at Camping Manaysse at Moustiers Saint Marie. It was OK but some pitches a bit tight but within walking district of the village which is very touristy but worth one visit. :)

Hi Suavecarve

We stayed at Camping Frederic Mistral in Castellane a few years back, Really beautiful.

The aire at st croix is nice fantastic view over gorge . I would recon you could stay a week there when quiet . The ticket man let people stay longer when we were there. All facilities but toilet a shower closed. Nice restaurant with good views 100m walk and small local shop at top of village. There is a campsite at the bottom of the hill don’t know the name though.

And welcome by the way! :) Are you using the ACSI book or an app? I use CamperContact as my"go to" app but Park4Night is useful if there is a specific place you want to visit and CC hasn't got any suggestions.

Hi
Thanks for replies everyone and yes DBK using the ASCI book but l think the app might be of more use, and l have the Park4Night app, l have used in UK quite a few times.

Hi Dorset Diver
Thanks for reply and l will take a look

We were three weeks ago. stayed at a campsite La Farigoulette, but now shut for season. However:rolleyes: had we carried on 10 mins there is a superb free overnight spot by the electric boat hire - we discovered the following day. Location is : Montmeyan Plage Bord du lac de Quinson, 83670 Montmeyan
Hired boat for trip up gorge, stunning scenery, very friendly people at boat hire, also an extremely popular roadside restaurant which you will pass before going over bridge and turning left down track to location.
