We got our first campervan in July 2024. This is our first so we’re new!
Hi All,

We’re being tempted by a couple of Velosock bike covers for our frame mounted rear bike carrier but can’t seem to see any way of neatly attaching a hazard plate to them for driving on the continent.

One of the main draws for them is that they look to protect the bike well and would look really neat on the back of the van rather than the flappy grey cover which we’ve currently got. So, strapping a (flappy) hazard plate on to it somehow would spoil it somewhat.

Anyone any experience with Velosocks and using them on the continent that could comment…?

Cheers

I see you can create your own cover. Perhaps you could upload an image which includes a hazard sign that would then be printed onto the cover. Also worth dropping them an email to ask.

The Velosock cover has zips top, middle (both sides) and bottom. It’s quite easy to attach the hazard plate neatly with bungee cords that then pass inside the Velosock. Likewise with the padlocks. Photo below with full locks although no hazard plate.

I like the Velosocks although I find them a little fragile (you really have to remove the pedals to prevent tearing) and it’s quite a fiddle to get the bike in the ‘sock and then the ‘sock on the bike. We are on year three and they are beginning to look a little faded with some fraying at the contact points.
