I just noticed RAC have limit of 6.4 metres vehicle length on STD cover.

Many MH are longer than 6.4m - has anyone found this to be a problem in practice ?

I upgraded my RAC cover to include our 7m MH and actually finished up paying less. Not worth "that" conversation if you ever, and here's hoping you don't, need them.

You can definitely get cover. Comfort via the AA, via outsourcing (convoluted I know) have recovered mine twice in the last month. 9.35m and 7.3T…

I was recovered in 2018 by AIB's breakdown service, whoever they were. The back wheels were just about touching the back of the flatbed. I was expecting the van to fall off en route home but we made it. Bailey 740SE, 7.4 metre with a sizeable overhang at the rear.

we have Green Flag Mayday breakdown cover via CAMC, no size or weight limits. Previous van was recovered by them and that was a 8.4m Frankia TAG.

When we changed to our current motorhome I asked Adrian Flux about breakdown cover considering the motorhome is bigger than the PVC we had. They said it was covered by AA comertial for recovery. I have yet to prove this.

I'd want more than a verbal assurance from Adrian Flux!!!

I have just received a reply from the RAC regarding weight and length restrictions for motorhomes with their Arrival membership.

I can confirm that there are no restrictions!

Some do! When we broke down in Germany the recovery vehicle turned up, already moaning that our MH was described as blue which is why he drove straight past initially (it is blue!) The fact that it was the only MH in the car park obviously escaped him. He proceeded to measure the length/height/width, all the details their control room had already been given. He then asked how much it weighed, 4250kgs (the only thing he couldn't measure!) as per the info given to the control room, he decided it was too heavy for his slide bed and had to call a colleague with a bigger truck with a spec frame. Bit like dentists, you don't want to upset them before the job is done.
