Vehicle Category

My guess is that if your vehicle was built on a chassis cab or chassis cowl then there will be nothing in section 'J' as its body type does not fit in that classification.

If you have a PVC then it should have N1 or M1 depending on whether it was originally a panel van or built as a people carrier.

Obviously the majority of V5c are silent on this entry, but some have M1 as one would expect. I was surprised by pete992's entry of N2 because surely it is not a Goods vehicle.

So was I. when I looked it up!😊 It has now magically become re-classified as M1 on its French registration. That seems to have earned it a class 3 Critair certificate, rather than the 4 it should have been, based on the Critair site for a 2009 diesel >3.5t...

Thnks to all of you who have replied.

Has anybody got M1 (Special Purpose), which is the legal definition for a Motor Caravan?

Thanks again.

Geoff

Thanks. Could you please e-mail me a copy of your registration document showing the M1 bit, suitably redacted for any personal stuff. I will PM my e-mail address.

Thanks, Geoff

Interesting because it left FIAT with no body on it so how could it be deemed to be for carrying goods.

Was there not a newer Cof C issued by the converter nce it was a MH?

Yes but that was from VCA and that states M1 😊👍

Our 2014 4250kg A Class Pilote on a Fiat/Alko amc chassis has M1

We had a 2010 Vantage Cub on a fiat 5.4 metres long and it hadn't been classed as a motor caravan. It had N1 in the category and this didn't change when I sent the photos and had the body type changed. I queried it with DVLA and they said they don't change it. Result was I had to pay higher charges at Dartford crossing as they were using the N1 category to charge.
