I've recently had a conversation with the owner of the company which fitted my VB 4C full air suspension. He informed me that it's advised to have the system serviced every 12 months after it's been in for 18 months. There are a number of parts that are classed as service parts. I was of the opinion it didn't need regular servicing.

Ours was fitted from a company in Coventry and we was told that it was a "Look see" and replace if necessary should there be any signs of wear or tear as regards servicing. Obviously there are parts that will need a look now and again. Common sense is the term used i think? Don't be pushed into paying a bill for something you really do not need to have done .

I was informed that items such as level switches need cleaning to reduce the chance of issues. If they fail or are intermittent they will allow extra pressure from the compressor as it thinks they are low. Also there are drying granules in the air tank that need checking for moisture.
I'm not going by hearsay, I'm going on advice from the horses mouth.

Never heard of that I get any compressor parts from Savage 4x4 Derbyshire Viair stockists, I have only ever needed a pressure switch.

Sometimes you are lucky, but how do you know the level switches are stopping the air at the correct pressure? A dodgy one can allow a lot more air in.

No requirement to have it service, so not got a clue. Never had any problems with it in the 7 years we had the van.

Ignore the horses mouth as you put it. Look at the responses from us who have had it fitted. You have Just answered your own question to be honest I think? Sounds like you have made a choice?
Just as a matter of interest…ours was fitted from new on a 2015 motorhome. Sold on only recently and did not need a service or a ‘man ( or woman or whatever the pronoun is nowadays ) wanting some easy cash’ on it at all.
Still going strong today.
Put your money to a worthy tank of fuel or gas . It would be better spent that way I’m sure 👍

We have VB semi air on the front of our van, the only thing I found that requires attention is the air filter on the compressor unit, tha Carthago mount under the van (others put it inside).

There is a tank drain like on a workshop air compressor which I occasionally drain to remove any water. So far it has been dry.

Our rear full air is an Iveco fit, so I guess any requirements would be carried out as part of the service schedule, but haven't seen anything on our documentation.

The only issue I have had is that in very cold weather with the van in storage, the pressure tank valve on the VB can freeze/stick, and over time looses pressure, it then needs to be driven for a while to unstick. Happened on a couple of occasions, gone to add air to the bags, and air pressure drops rather than going up.

I have had two motorhomes with VB 4C and never heard about servicing. Sounds a bit like the E&P Levelling annual service, never bothered with that either.

The drying granuals in the tank sounds a bit strange I’ve never had that always a drain valve and on one system a pressure release valve with an emergency cable also used to intermittently drain tank as we always when parked up lowered the van for easy access through main door so used the compressor a lot and therefore depending on the temperature got condensation in the tank

I had 2 front struts leak and need replacing. They are not serviceable.
Then I suffered a front corner behind intermittently higher than the others. The fault has hopefully been resolved. VB took their special diagnostic computer over to SAP and diagnosed an intermittent level switch. I was told that these switches should be checked/ cleaned or replaced at a service. Intermittent readings can cause the compressor to over pressurise the strut. The parts are around £70 each.
They checked the dessicate for discolouration or moisture and the valve block. All were clear.

As you say Jez not serviceable 😉

It's annoying that a whole strut is not repairable if leaking. I discussed it with VB themselves when said they used to service them but found other parts failed also! And as its an expensive install job labour wise full replacement is their chosen route. Re serviceable items, if the level switches are worn/contaminated/seizing then it possibly the extra pressure cold damage other components in the system.
I was shown a level switch and it didn't move smoothly, and their computer showed it was giving uneven readings.
So even if a service means a physical check, clean or spray certain components and a hook up to diagnostics it may save further issues along the line.

They should use better quality sensors/switches they should last years for the cost.
