Hi,
Has anyone had the basic air assist fitted (you pump up yourself)?
has anyone got the better one with dials and on board pump?
how often do you need to alter the pressure?
thanks

Have had all sorts, from the basic bags and a tyre type valve to blow up, through to VB full air. No comparison in the quality of the two. But with the basic one you adjust the pressure according to loading or if you need extra height at rear to board a ferry etc. It soon gets tiresome constantly adjusting up and down.

If fitting a system again it would have the onboard compressor and guages to make it a much easier job from the drivers seat. Cheap bags are also a false economy as they work ok for a while then split when you least need it. Go with firestone or dunlop bags and they last years for not much more money

I had VB semi air fitted on the rear last November. I paid extra to have the onboard compressor and the two independent dials. Seems to work well. Was advised to leave it at 0.5 bar when at rest and maximum of 3 bar when inflated. Don't think I would have bothered with semi-air if there was no onboard compressor.

Like andyelbac we have VD air assist with the on board compressor and dials - In my view much more sensible but other won't agree - Horses for course as they say!
