Vat & solar

We didnā€™t pay ant vat when we had our house system installed, if you have the whole kit at once. But if I wanted extra batteries etc now then I would have to pay vat. Last thirty days Lucy cost, even got paid 24 p on Friday to use the power. We used 8.5 kw and got paid for using it.

It seems to me that most of these environmental taxes are just money-making schemes, except at the moment the road tax exemption for EV's which lost the Gov't Ā£7.3 billion in the year 2022/23.

I thought currently there was no vat on domestic solar and batteries? We recently had a battery and didn't pay vat?

If our government are really committed to Net Zero why is there 20% vat on solar products helping people to reduce carbon footprint !
Or is it all just Bullshit? Asking for a friendšŸ¤£
Simples all bullshit. Look at the recent announcement by that dickhead AKA the mayor of London. 2025 slap a Ā£15 congestion charge on EVā€™s. I have always said all the congestion and low emissions zones have absolutely nothing to do with improving the environment, theyā€™re simply revenue streams for the local authority. Still someoneā€™s got to pay their golden handshake pensions. Might as well be us plebs as to anyone else.

Thatā€™s the sprat to catch the mackerel.
There is going to be some sort of tax on them once they have convinced forced enough people to buy one

Quite! Mostly smoke and mirrors and ironically EV owners enjoy free road fund licence, when actually the heavier cars with greater torque are more likely to damage the roads, its not really surprising that we have so many potholes.

I've seen him once in 4 years. In the commons lobbying to stop - yup you guessed it solar farms ,šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
You see him around Holbeach if something is going on where he has his photograph in the paper.

I think I will apply for a refund- I put a solar panel on my shed, with an inverter to power a cd player in the summer-house.
Do you think it will qualify?
Cheers, Dave

At least we can console ourselves with the irony that our RFL money isn't being spent on the roads.

And why is there vat on insulation products, when we are supposed to be stuffing our houses to the gunnels.

It might, but be careful what you wish for as the mealy-mouthed bureaucrats would probably stipulate that you only play Des O'Connor CDs.

Tories changed that earlier this year (January) before we kicked them out.

Yes, of course it's all just bullshit. It's yet another scam to take all your money in taxes. If everything 'green' was the panacea and no taxation, how would the government pay for their luxurious mansions? Oh, and in the case of Spain (probably UK too, but I cannot confirm that), pay for their whores, drugs and shellfish meals?

The U.K. emits less than 1.1% of global emissions (China 28%) so it's unlikely that even if we all drove EV's, stuffed our houses with Celotex, became vegetarian and fitted all the remaining cows with windbags we'd ever get much lower. Admittedly much of 'our' pollution is and will continue to be surrogated to foreign manufacturers distributing in the U.K. via Amazon, eBay and the like.
