Using cab air conditioning to cool down hab on site .

Any updates Swifter has the warden had a word or are they still being ignorant :swear2:
it was the weekend with the family Lenny . I am down in Southampton now. We spotted them on a walk around the site just before bedtime, and casually asked why the engines were running. I made it quite clear I wasn’t impressed with the reasoning .

Ice cream vans use PTO’s and sit running
They are already up to temperature from driving.
A modern diesel will never get up to operating temperature just on tickover also a high chance of bu**ering the CAT & DPF

Are they also poisoning the dogs? In still summer air the exhaust fumes are less likely to disperse leaving them to pool around the motorhome, perhaps they are being sucked inside by the air con. Just a thought.
It should be on recirculate.

Dogs survived before air con was thought of so I'm with the dip in the river and a sleep in the awning brigade.

But I suspect it's more about the owners wanting a cool van for sleeping and putting the blame on the dog 🐕
People often blame the dog for the quality of the air around them.

And who are you the engine police 🤣🤣

My boy used to lie under the van in hot weather. Inside the van I had rechargeable battery fans for him. Dogs always find their own cool spot.

My dog has an intense dislike of Huskey type dogs for some reason ☹️

From what I was told by husky owner is that they get trouble with other dogs as there eyes are different and they don’t blink, so stares. It’s to do with one eye being better for bright snow, and the other eye for normal conditions. Or something like that. Apparently if a dog stares at a dog, is a sign of aggression.

There's no excuse for this at all. My dog won't go near water but I always have a cool mat and a cooling bandana for her, as well as a 12v fan to keep her cool. If it's hot during the day, she sits outside with us under the van. At night, we have the windows and roof vents open to rotate the air, as well as having the fan on. Plus she sleeps on the cool mat. No one needs to use air con to keep dogs cool. The cooling mats are great for humans, too!! :)

How do you manage to get under there? :whatthe:

Anti-social, not necessary, it's not particually hot at the moment. I bet they don't do it when the Motorhome is on the drive at home, so why do they think it's necessary to anoy everyone else on the site.
OMG Lenny HB that’s even more antisocial than us with truck based Liners, that have to run the engine to get sufficient pressure in the tanks to move off.🙄

Daisey the labradoodle lays on the tiled utility room floor.
Teddy, the hairy one, couldn't give a stuff and runs about barking at birds, trees, wasps, aeroplanes or anything else that moves
We don't call them wasps (or bees) for the dog we call them chilli flies, from the expression when she catches one.

We call them the same with our dog, thought I was the only one. So funny to watch.

Being a retired Engineer I have often thought about the feasibility of powering the AC compressor on the engine with a 240v motor when onsite. It could be done by having 2 of the electromagnetic clutch's drive by belts off the engine and motor.
How about the A/C being permanently electrically powered with switch over from alternator to habitation when engine off? No need for clutches etc and easy to install on fully electric or hybrid vehicles.
