We have just bought a MH with a satellite dish. I have never had a satellite dish on a MH before and I don't how to fix the problem we have with it. The MH originally had a German owner and every time I have tried retuning the dish, so far in France and Spain, I always end up with pretty much the same set of German stations despite trying different Satellites. The satellite dish is a Oyster Caro, but the TV which came with it has been replaced with a Telefunken for which I have no manual and I can't get any help from the TV manufacturer. Unfortunately I have not had time to work out how to get the TV off and check the cables. Does anyone have any advice?

Get a firestick and forget about the dish would be my advice. Sounds mad, but given you can get near any channel via a stick these days why bother with the difficulty a dish brings. (Yes even German and non-English channels).

(It's also far easier to keep a stick running, and likely also will use less power).

Others will disagree with me, I'm sure, but we've never had issues receiving TV via the stick, where signal via aerial has been issue at many sites, and equally we've seen those with dishes having to move pitch for sky coverage etc.

Remember a stick these days is also £20-30 off amazon. We need the Internet anyhow for work, why not use it for TV.

Agree. Firestick and Wi-Fi!

Easy solution. And if you use a vpn, no geographical issues with such as BBC, prime or Netflix.

And more room for Solar.

We have a sat dish and firestick (via wifi). If its on there, then theres no reason why you shouldnt try and get it up running

Anthony OysterTech may be able to offer some good advice as to whether it still functions as it should.

Our Weinsberg had same problem. Anthony at oyster tech sorted it. He sent a file which we put on a memory stick - then followed his instructions and all was sorted. Very helpful.

Good afternoon NewToMH

Depending on the variation of Caro system you have it should be quite an easy fix to get UK tv through it. There are some older models that may need an upgrade kit but most will work with a little tweaking so the easiest thing to do would be to contact me when you're in front of it on 01858575928. We can go through everything on the phone and hopefully we can get you up and running without any issues.

Many thanks to MisterB for the tag. (y)

Before you turn to the WiFi option, consider where you are going to use it. We go on CAMC rallies which are in the middle of fields which have sod all data coverage. Also in the EU, since B you will have to find a good data provider to watch UK TV without racking up charges.

If you are much south of Bordeaux in France , even with an 80 cm dish, you will run out of signal from Astra 2. I live over 100 kms north of Bordeaux and have Freesat signal problems in adverse weather conditions.
Also what decoder are you using? We used to use a satellite pointer box to find Astra 2 and a Pace Javelin from Sky to decode the signal but we did not have a Sky subscription. That would not work now since everything has gone HD. A Freesat HD box would not work either past Bordeaux and it is not easy to get one that works off 12v.
We too have a dish on this van but can only get French television and, in case you are curious, it is beyond awful! We have gone all old-fashioned and read, listen to music or even talk.

Thanks for all the input. We weren't looking to have a sat dish, but it is aggravating to have it and it not being able to use it for Spanish or French TV to help with language learning (we are based in Spain following B day). I will follow up on the advice above after Christmas as the van is going into the dealer for maintenance on Friday.

If your firestick has the decent software added, you will find French, Spanish and Italian programming to your hearts content.

Just saying it's not the only option to get that coverage. Our firestick even provides Portugese TV.
