Use of Uber or similar other taxi services in Europe

We have a Suzuki Scooter kept permanently in the Motorhome garage which we use only occasionally. We very rarely use it and have done about 220 miles in the 9 years we have had it! The idea was that we could use it to get around when on remote sites in UK and Europe. It is now time for its MOT and a much overdue service, along with paying for tax and insurance and we are thinking that we are getting older and getting more nervous about using it.

We have started to use Uber occasionally in the UK. So the question is could we use it rather than the Scooter when we are in Europe, usually France, Spain and Portugal. Have funsters used Uber (or an alternative app based service) in those countries and what the service and costs were like please?

Yes, we used Uber for the very first time whilst in Spain at the aire at Gelves. Knowing that I might want to use it as dogs not always allowed on buses, I set up the app with my Revolut card to debit in euros. It was great.
Very cheap 17 € for 2 of us with dog from Gelves to Seville in a Lexus!

yes we used them in spain .some times a car with Bolt on it would turn up .but happy with the price

Used Ubet in Spain and Portugal very happy cheap airport transfers and so far been reliable

Uber in Majorca is pricy, from where we are at the moment, it's 28€ to Airport by Uber, 30 € by taxi, no big gain....

I've used Uber all over Europe - it's no different to using it in the UK although prices will vary from city to city - just like normal taxi fares do.

As Roby2008 pointed out there isn't always a meaningful cost saving, but there is the convenience of not having to download another app for a local taxi service wherever you are.

We have used Uber and Bolt. I've noticed that the drivers switch between the apps to get the next nearest fare

Very cheap in Portugal and very reliable , we used it loads

Used it in Portugal where it was often cheaper and quicker than catching the bus! I just changed the currency to Euro and paid with our Starling card.
