Looking to wire my nextbase dash cam in. I've installed a USB socket for the SAT nav so thought I'd plug in there rather than direct to a piggy back fuse.

Currently it has a cigarette plug on so thought I'd try just changing to a USB plug so looking for one I can wire myself.

If you read the installation instructions carefully you should see that Nextbase do not recommend using a usb socket for power. I think it is because 12v is needed as opposed to the 5v available at a usb feed.

Just buy a USB to USB lead.
Wiring a USB plug in place of a cig lighter plug will be near on impossible.

Just read the post above.
Cut the plug off and wire to a 12v supply.

Every dashcam I've seen has a 5v usb power input
