im not having much luck after getting the EBL power fixed yesterday in Worthing I made the ferry from newhaven and am now in France near Le Mans more trouble with trailer nearly lost the Ducati twice when the front wheel chock weld cracked and the chock fell off also cut 2 Cargo straps , luckily I have bought new heavy duty ones and the bike is secure , but my confidence in the trailer is Zero ,,

Bigger problem is the van is running rough for last hour I have done 360 miles in last 2 days smooth as silk , until 40 miles ago but now the engine warning light is on permanently the OBD wont clear the fault and its the ( Throttle bank 1 0638 code ) the van is now running very poorly and I just dont know what to do should I cancel my whole holiday and go home to Cirencester or try and sort the van out here ???

Im really unhappy , I had many things planned , and thing are toxic at home with my daughter so this was supposed to be a really good rest and reset for me..

any advice on sorting the van miuch appreciated

Can't help with the problems but if you state the engine and year it might help others give advice.
But that's not going to help with the trailer, if you've no confidence in it you're not going to be able to relax when driving.
Good luck, I hope you can resolve the problems, it is a bu##er when multiple faults appear at once.

See if you can locate a fiat professional dealership near by. I had an issue with an EML on with our 22 plate Ducato PVC. The nearest Fiat Professional Dealer was very helpful and even spoke English too
it's worth a try.
Good luck though.

France is the EU Capital for Trailers ( Remorque in French) I'm sure they'll be a workshop around to sort that too. I lived in France for 2 years and they fix and repair everything unlike here where it's all throw away and buy new..

Its a 2009 Adria Ducato with 2.3 130hp engine I have breakdown insurance ,,,
Is the engine all standard?
If yes try removing the vacuum hose from the EGR solenoid. It is on the bracket centre under windscreen.
Another thing to try is if you have the original 09 throttle body, disconnect the wires to it. It will leave the dash light on but will stop it working, leaving it fully open and stop the EGR operation.

Not valid unless taken out before you leave the UK.

He has breakdown cover.

On the eairler X250's throttle body was a common problem, it's been modified since then if you fit a new one you have to fix a new wiring loom to it as well.
If you have tools with you probably be worth taking it off and giving it a good clean.

Its only 1 year old and in almost mint condition its a Trivango but its badly designed and after weld for bucket clamp that hold the front wheel snapped I dont trust it , ...but I can work with it and improve it , my bigger worry is the van ????

If I was trying different things I would methodically write it down and take photos just so later on I don’t get in a muddle or forget what goes where
Especially if stressed

Rad doesn’t need to come off. You can just remove the fan assembly off the back of the radiator. But if it has never been off before it is a difficult job, and the lower bolt tends to snap.

Re Breakdown insurance I was aware AA and RAC you need to take out before you go
But would your van insurance company be different

I looked at that video I will have to remove click and go auto clutch as well as its on to of all that, but pointless without spare s ,, when the engine runs there is no black smoke and it has power but coughing and down on power ...... park up somewhere decent for the night and ponder what to do ???

Agree. No point removing yours unless you’ve got the replacement.

Just disconnect throttle body. It isn’t even needed, and only used to block the air into the engine, so it can suck in dirty exhaust fumes, whilst EGR is open, and to soften he switch off.
where do I dissconnect it from ??? I can get my handson the actual throttle body , is the another place i can disconnect at

Disconnect the wires from the top of it and then the flap/butterfly will just be held open with spring.
You can check it is open by removing the air inlet pipe and looking up it, and even touch it if required.

Is the fault that the flap gets stuck in the closed position, like it does on the Range Rovers with the plastic throttle body ?

The flap is held open with a very weak spring and can get stuck closed, after an operation, but the main problem is the operation motor shaft gets stuck with rust and crap. A big problem is the system is dumb. So when it operates the valve, it assumes it has done as asked. It has no way of knowing where the butterfly is as it has no ability monitor its position.

I don’t know if it helps, but you must not think of it as a throttle body, such as you have on a petrol vehicle. This is purely a device to restrict clean air into engine so it can suck air via EGR. Throttle body is a really the wrong name for it. Disconnected and open will just allow the engine to take as much clean air as it requires like it should.

OK been busy ,, removed the Vacuum hose from the EGR solenoid , that allowed me to clear the engine light with OBD ,also disconnected sprayed every connector with contact cleaner that looked electrical and involved with engine thats i could reach , then drove to leMans , no problems no rough running but the light came on once and I could clear it , went to BIG fiat main dealer , they dont have the Parts in stock and if ordered would take 6 days ... but I will fix it later when back in UK as I can do it myself ,, but when I park up somewhere for a few days I will get at Throttle body and its connectors and clean them up etc .

I also went to 2 trailer shops ,, lots of lovely new trailers for motorcycles , much better made and specified than any I have seen in UK and much cheaper , by 40% , they had the parts I need , but cannot fit me in until next week to fit and I need a drill and welder , so i cant do it on the fly . however I have a temporary fix and I check the trailer at every pause.. Im heading to Potiers tonight and looking for a an aire but I need to top up water .. then have a nice meal some drinks and chillout , I plan to head to Guillac tommorow

I have also fixed the windscreen washer nozzles .

The advice I have received from you all has helped me ,, and although Its not properly fixed Im confident I can keep travelling ,, I need this so much ,,
