Hi i hope it's better attended than the jazz festival we went to at Upton last week
We camped in a field opposite the Marina besides us there was a tent and 2 caravns thats all.

i reckon the jazz 1 was quiet due to the price the blues 1 is different just pay for the camping

Severn Valley section of the MCC are holding a rally @ £12 per night dates are 18th - 21st July 2014 (y)

Yes sorry everyone got wrong weekend , it is the 18 / 21st July ,

Thanks for the MCC infoTony but alas i am not a member :( but usefull to others im sure ,

Judging by last years photos it was well attended , but who knows ,

i think it is the same weekend as the bring and buy but as it is full , maybe some Funsters would like to go to the festival if they have nothing planned Instead ? .

We are going to the Sandy meet then across to the Cotswolds for a few days then to the festival .

Maybe see you there :cooler: .

Thanks for the date update. We are also going to be touring the Cotswolds after Sandy (and we are in the MCC) so Upton is a possibility.

Welland steam fair starts a few days later (Thursday) and is just a few miles down the road.. Great weekend and it's their 50th anniversary so should be even bigger.. Mcc have a rally there, no need to book just turn up.....

GJH... You can arrive and then join at any Mcc rally...

I've just been looking on the MCC web site and noticed that Steve, thanks. Could be another one for us :)

Think we would maybe give it a go, will decide when we get back after this weekend.
Not a member of the MCC, but can’t see the point of joining for this meet, £30 + £5 joining fee, then £12 a night versus festival price of £28 all in, am I missing something ?
EDIT just reread the bit about going to the steam rally too, doh !

Festival price (£30 if you pay on the gate) is per person, not per unit, so that equalises it a bit.

The MCC used to have a farmers field nearby and it was a lot cheaper for the Upton festival.. I think they now use another location and prices have risen.. We will be at the bring and buy that weekend..
The Steam fair is the best one, great weekend with lots going on. Stay Thursday till Monday and the MCC section alone gets 100+ vans.... £38 for the whole weekend plus a small rally fee 50p / £1..

Graham..... Yes thats right... At Welland as you enter from the road their area is usually over on the left and quiet flat compared to further up the hill... Fresh water is close but the Elsan dump is usually a walk away... Cant wait !!! I love Welland, especially at night with all the lights on the steam fair... Hope they have the waltzers on this year... :)

Looks like it's just a matter of deciding which THSs/CLs to go to in between events then :D

We might try the MCC CL at Bourton on the Water - my cousin told me years ago I should go to visit the model village.

The motor museum is well worth a visit weve been told ,

The MCC CL at Bourton on the Water is a good place to visit, it is a short walk into the town, the Birdland park is opposite the entrance, so expect to listen to some strange bird noise..... and they do like to race plastic ducks on the river.
The access road is a little narrow, but not a problem. You can use the football club bar only a few paces from the cl.
Nice to see support for Severn Valley MCC events for the Jazz and Steam rallies, we nearly lost the group a short time ago.

I don't think i can use the football club as i am not yet a member ,:(
I have the membership form filled in but was told not to send it as i would not get the membership cards back before we set off for the sandy meet but can join at the Blues Festival .:cooler:
I could try and find a contact for the football club and maybe give them a call .:D

I looked at buses from Moreton in Marsh and Stow on the Wold to Bourton earlier this morning and they appear to be hourly and fairly short journeys so we may revert to Plan A and use the C&CC THSs.

We'll decide at Sandy probably :)

i think i have lost the thread here it started about the blues festival and has been taken over by a thread about the mcc ?

All relevant Bill :) References to the MCC meets at Upton and at Welland plus the possibility of staying at a MCC CL in between.
