Hi Funsters

We are collecting our new motorhome in a few weeks time and would like to put a small motorbike or scooter on the back to travel around while pitched at a campsite but not sure how we go about this, i know this has been covered before but not sure where to start, any advise would be really helpful.

What do you need advice about, which bike? The first bit would be to see what the capacity of the MH is? What is the GVW 3500kg or above? Then the axle weights because anything on the back could put you over on the axle weight. Or do you have a garage? Or are you thinking of a trailer? More info required!!

I don't know where you are in the country but LNB Bristol have a few solutions. Fitted out tow bar recently and did a great job and provided a loan car for 1/2 day.

I put my scooter in my garage. Do you have a garage?

Hi VXman,

Yes we have but not sure if it will fit yet until we collect the Motorhome, if not it maybe a small trailer but we are not sure how we upgrade the motorhome, it only needs to be upgraded a little and just need to know how you go about doing this.

You need to contact either Van Weight Engineering or SV Tech as DVLA require an engineer's report, it's a straight forward paper exercise as long as you don't need any mods.

Don't forget your license limitations if they apply. Replating over 3500kg requires a C1. Also check your rear axle limits. Might need mods if the motorbike takes you above the plated limit.

Before you do anything , once you have possession of the vehicle weigh it, inc axle weights and calculate what the leveraged load on the rear axle is , it can come as a shock !
