Hi Folks,
Has anyone upgraded their headlights to LED's or Xenon lights? If so what tips or recommendations do you have?
The headlights on our 2017 Bailey on a Boxer Cab, seem really dull when compared to the Xenon lights on my E Class estate which has the self dipping / going round corners function.
Looking forward to your feedback.
Thanks Philip

The Mercedes xenon’s are superb. Am on my 3rd car with them. But doubt you could put them into the boxer and if you could it would be many thousands or so, I imagine. It’s the power units needed that cost.

Not updated my Baileys lights. I found them acceptable when driving back from Portsmouth in January, during the night though. But normally tend not to drive the van in the dark.

LEDs are an MOT failure if they aren't originally fitted and the tester is an anorak.
I stuck LEDs in both dip and main on my car, tester never even mentioned them.
As long as the beams are correct I don't think most care
Not sure about LEDs but HIDs must have self levelling and wash/wipe functions.

You should manage to get a good price if you sell the old ones. FYI i was quoted £1005 plus vat from a dealer for a single oem bulb headlamp.

£275 Inc vat from Coastal Motorhomes.
That's where I went. Good service too, kept me informed of progress of the order. The OP might already have a supplier for his new headlamps, as he's not asking for one.

Katur H7 from Amazon. I've been so impressed I did the H1 high beams as well. They are like laser beams compared to the OE bulbs and people aren't flashing so the pattern must be good Amazon product ASIN B07QXB6SW7
Interested, what van have you fitted them to? How long have you had them? Do they make a noise, read they have a cooling fan? Thanks

Lenny HB is this for just the dipped hella headlight or main beam?
Only one H7 bulb in mine for both, an electric shield for dipping.
If you have two it's probably not worth changing main beam as propbably not used much.

When you get the Compactline that only has one lamp for both, I don't know if it's an H7 with dipping shield or a twin filiment bulb like an H4.

Hi I have a Weinsberg 2018 on a Peugeot Boxer. I have tried all types of headlight bulb main beam and dipped, they all throw up an error on the S***** Peugeot cam bus system. Unfortunately the cam bus system measures for resistance on the wiring and if incorrect it thinks the bulb is faulty. Also I found some dipped that did not throw up the error and the van failed the MOT as the beam was out of alignment and could not be corrected by the headlamp casing adjustment. I do have led in my driving lights which throw up an error which I accept as ghe improvement in fantastic. I then change them back for the MOT. I could do this with the main and dipped but think this in wrong for other drivers especially as I travel in 🇫🇷.
If you take the risk, carry originals as if you are stopped for glaring lights you can change them and continue your journey, with of corse a bill to pay to the Gendarme.
There are many other problems with the Cam system add ons or mods. So all my accessories are to an additional fuse system from the battery. If you do have success please let me know as you are correct the standard lights are not good.

My advice which I arrived at and applied couple of years ago is to fit only the brightest legal upgrades. They are more than adequate. Our old Fiat was very poor in the headlight department and I changed our Campervan to legal but bright bulbs. No MOT issues, alignment issues or melted headlight covers and a bonus...... I can now see in the dark clearly.

Why different manufacturers if both the dip and main are H7's ?

Can’t think of any practical reason for doing that other than maybe he could only obtain two different products, or wanted to illustrate that either will fit?

FWIW I used 4x H7 Beamtech fanless LEDs in my Ducato, having had good results previously in a road registered Can Am quad. All good so far and compared to the previous crap bulbs are well worth the $75 I paid.

Likewise I fitted the same to both dip and beam on my 23 plate Pilote , made big difference especially if driving in wet conditions at night .
beam pattern is unaffected and not had anyone flashing me whilst driving at home or abroad

What!!! Is that a typo, I hope. £1005 for a headlight bulb!! Just replaced one in my Land Rover, eight quid at Halfords.

I’ve got a 2021 boxer cab. It’s got LED running lights but the mains are regular bulbs I think. Mainly because they are garbage.

I was going to look for front fogs to add some light and am even toying with the idea of a slim light bar mounted above the windscreen to give me proper flood for when no one is on coming or in front at night on country lanes.
