Updating Pioneer Sat Nav

Having just returned from Spain and taking a few wrong turns in france I have decided to update our sat nav on our Pioneer AVIC- F9880BT,
After looking on the inter it would seem it has to be done through naviextras @ €159 has anyone successfully done this ?

I've done my Clarion through Naviextras it was €60, €159 sounds like the price of a new map sd card rather than an update. Once you have created a Naviextras account they are always emailing 20% off offers.
