Probably need to up plate our motorhome from 3650kg to 4000 or 4250 as there is precious little payload left at 3650 once we are in the road but to do that I need at the minimum to upgrade the suspension to semi air. Could anyone tell me what change they noticed on their insurance premiums after a similar modification?

4.5t to 5.0t no increase at all👍 comfort insurance👍

That’s good to know. Thank you.

We had a 2012 Elddis Aspire rated at 3500 kgs but it has a paper exercise done by Glossops to take it to 3700 kg but we took it up to 3850 kg to do this and get 2240 kg over the rear axle took semi air and from 215/70/R15 up to 225/70/r15 could of had 3850 kg but not 2240 kg over the rear axle without increasing the tyre size. No increase in insurance.

We up plated and there was no impact on the vehicle insurance cost or terms

However it is worth checking what vehicle recovery (breakdown) cover you have as when we were looking around at the “free with bank” type covers they only apply to vehicles max 3.5 tonnes. We got our breakdown as an add on to the main insurance via the broker to avoid this issue.

No change or charge whatsoever with any of our insurances when we've uprated, only thing to watch as mentioned is if going from 3500kg that breakdown isn't affected but as you're already over that I assume you've already got suitable cover in place.
