Up Plate DVLA

Nope everything! Photocopies and scans kept luckily! Sept sent registered post this time to be signed for! I used JR for my last van no problem, this time a firm a bit nearer to home ( No names as its the DVLA for the delay)
Is the firm you used authorised by the DVSA to provide the info that the DVLA require for uprating? If not that may be part of the issue.

Just to add (cannot edit my previous post) Once you come to the end of the 6 or 12 month tax period you can then revert to Direct Debit. Photo copy all your documents prior to sending to DVLA and send Recorded Post
There's nothing to stop you cancelling your tax, you'll then get a refund for any unused and simply re-tax it online for a monthly DD instead if that's what you want to do.

So I sent off all my details for the up plate along with a nice letter about section f1 max permissible mass.

So I received my V5C two days ago, I am now a PHGV at revenue weight of 4000kg gross but yes despite the letter F1 is 3499 max permissible mass. Argghh! I thought sending them the letter would sort it first time but maybe everything with the tax change etc was just too much!

On a positive note the turnaround was just over 2 weeks for the up plate at DVLA! (y):giggle:

We've just had our uprated V5 back (sent it off end of August)....must be the same person who did yours because despite the covering letter saying:
please amend the V5C for vehicle XXNN XXX with the following details:

[Y] Revenue weight: new value 4250KG GROSS

[F.1] Max. permissible mass: new value 4250
And attaching mini post-its to the actual V5 against the items to be updated with the same instructions......the new V5 has come back with Revenue Weight 4250 and Max Permissible Mass 3700

At least if you got your's back in 2 weeks there's hope that it won't take another 3 months to correct it!

I was looking at uprating from 4250kg to 4500kg but starting from scratch to find out what I need for it and the hassle with the DVLA makes me wonder if it’s worth it🤷🏼‍♂️

You wont have the agravation of changing tax class. The change of class seems to be the greatest cause of grief. The loss of v5 seems to be a tactic to get more revenue, i recently had to get a "new " v5 to tax my car even though i had not received one post purchase, i had not chased it up soon enough.
Ps my upplating only took 4 months. I sent copies of every correspondence and documents each time i had to write to dvla.
I think i have just contradicted myself

Only thing I would strongly recommend is sending your documents recorded delivery. Reason being, I called them a week before everything came back and they said they had not received anything from me and that I should apply for a new V5. I had not got around to starting the process when it all dropped through my door done and dusted. I hope this helps you.
After months of nothing from them (despite numerous attempts to speak with a human), I had a very similar offer via email, to renew my V5 for £25.00.
A curt reply enquiring why I needed to purchase a new V5, when the original was not lost by me, supported with images of the documents (already) sent by recorded delivery..................along with an image of the Royal Mail tracked signature on behalf of DVLA, displaying the time and date delivered, soon saw me in receipt of a more positive response within minutes, advising me that the updated V5 would be with me in a few days.
It was, but what an absolute shambles. :(

I know it will never happen, but bring back the local offices. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)
