Good afternoon Funsters,
I have been to the weighbridge and got both axles independently weighed
Full tank of diesel and also water
The usual kit , nothing OTT
Front axle1660 kg , rear 2400 kg
The web site says front 47 psi , rear 80 psi
The website also said that the rear axle was close to an unsafe weight
Any thoughts
Best wishes

That's a total weight of 4060kg. Unless your van has been uprated, you are limited to 3500kg max.

Tyre pressures should be the least of your worries!

Look at the vehicle data plate which is fixed under the bonnet, it will show maximum front and rear axle weights and the total, look up the correct pressure per axle weight with the tyre manufacturer using the weighbridge weight given. If the tyre manufacturer can't help stick with Tyresafe.

Rear axle doesn't look to have much wiggle room, is the total limit known?

Good morning Funsters
I will check the plate under the bonnet when it stops raining 👹
Hopefully by then I will have heard from Davanti , I need to sort it

That Tyresafe pressure calculator comes up with 80 psi/5.5 bar whatever rear axle weight you put in. I don’t trust it. If I followed their advice my rear tyres would be seriously over inflated.

The plate under the bonnet might be one that was put there by the vehicle manufacturer before conversion by Rapido. There should be subsequent plates showing the weights after conversion.

It only comes up with 80 psi for the rear if you select CP tyres.

I just tried it, came up with 56 front, 70 rear compared to tyre manufacturers 56/69.

They always show 80psi rear for CP tyres which is what Michellin insist on but others may allow a reduction.

If it's recommending 80psi I bet the rear axle is close to limit or tyres are at the edge of their weight loading.
No they just say 80psi whatever the loading. Anyway Carthago give much lower pressures which is what I use.

Aye I was going to say that as on the euramobil I had the plate under the bonnet was different from the converters plate that was attached inside the hab door

Nah just a design feature of Camping tyres to give a very stiff sidewall for longer periods of standing in storage. If you use your van regularly then any correct size/load van tyres will do

Carthago give lower pressures even for Camping tyres.

Your front and rear axle weights add up to 4060kg well above the 3500kg on the plate. If there is no converters plate showing your motorhome has been uprated then it looks like you are overweight by 16%. Also your rear axle load is bang on the limit. You need to resolve the overloading issues before worrying about tyre pressures.

Does your V5C show a higher figure than 3500kg and that it has been registered as a PHGV? If it does this suggests the vehicle has been uprated and you have not found the plate that matters. If the V5C shows the vehicle taxation class as Private/Light Goods (PLG) then you are limited to 3500kg and you will need to reduce the weight or uprate the classification.

I agree with Pausim . You need to get up-rated or go on a massive cargo diet. Realistically, 500kg weight loss is probably not possible.

Also, check your tyre load rating. You need at least 115 rated tyres for that rear axle load.
