Hi all.
I am considering getting an underslung lpg tank, I've been offered it for free half full, but not sure if it will be suitable for general use.
It is a liquid draw off for lpg powered cars.
My question is, I know it needs to be vapour to domestic appliances but can this be made to work like this?
Ie , a high pressure regulator, then a low pressure regulator to achieve this result.
Any gas savvy engineer advice welcome.

TIA
Alan

I wouldn't bother.
You need to convert the liquid to vapour before it can be regulated, you can't put liquid through a regulator... or modify the tank pickup to receive vapour.....IE: shorten the pickup if possible.
Far too much guesswork and risk involved.

Thanks buddy.
Thanks for clearing that up, I will give this option a miss and invest in a vapour release tank instead.
Much appreciated 👏

I am sure it can be done, however, perhaps the installation rules have changed since we inherited our bulk tank system on the Hymer. It was a 1999 registered vehicle with a factory fittted liquid feed bulk tank, rotated by a few degrees upward so that the outlet was angled upwards, possibly above the 80% liquid level. The outlet pipe came right across the chassis and into a tall vertical vapouriser, before being connected to a 30Mb regulator.
It served us well during our period of ownership.

As I say, it is highly likely that installation regs have since changed.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

On another thought, the inlet and outlet connections are all at the bottom, is it possible to say, swap out the multi valve for gas draw off?
Thanks.
Alan.

Quite possibly, but as you need to inform your insurers of the conversion they may not pay out anyway in the event of a claim once they've inspected the system.
Really not worth the time and effort

Also how old is the tank because at 10 year old they have to be rebirbished or replaced and you can't get them refurbished in the UK.
